Makalali Private Game Lodge Accommodation
The lodge has 4 camps and each camp has 6 luxury suites, a plunge pool, private viewing deck, dining area and boma.
All the camps are private, yet within easy access of one another and
are all situated on the banks of the Makhutswi River. The suites are equipped
with en-suite bathrooms with outdoor showers, raised timber deck, fireplace.
Rooms are also equipped with insect repellent, mosquito nets, electronic
digital safe, hairdryer, bathrobes, ceiling fans, air conditioning, fireplace
stocked with logs from the reserve.
There are shaver plugs at Tandane, Mkhiwa and Emtomeni, insect proof screening
on all windows and sliding doors and electrical outlets provide 220 volts.
Tandane Camp
Tandane means "place of love". Makalali’s group entertainment
/ conference centre is situated at Tandane camp. The centre consists of
a unique thatch-covered main building, an open kitchen and entertainment
area.
It has been designed to accommodate conferences, groups dining together,
weddings and gala events. Flame torches create a mystical and fiery African
ambience at night.
Mkhiwa Camp
Mkhiwa means Sycamore Fig and is name after the large fig tree which stands
over the main area creating some welcome shade.
Emtomeni Camp
Emtomeni, Mkhiwa’s sister camp, means Jackelberry tree. This camp
was created in order to accommodate groups that need more than 6 rooms
at a time. However each camp can still run separately with its own dining
area to create that personal touch.
Phiva Camp
Phiva means Waterbuck. However you will find Nyala here which roam the
camp and call it their home. Dining at Makalali is a culinary adventure,
combining regional African cuisine with the multitude of cooking styles
left behind by centuries of exploration on this great continent.

How To Get To Makalali Private Game Lodge
Take the N1 north towards Pretoria, take the N4 East towards Witbank
and onwards to Belfast (Pta-Belfast +- 240 Km), Turn Left off the Highway
towards Belfast.
In Belfast, turn right at the Belfast Toyota onto Dullstroom / Lydenburg
(R540), at the T– Junction (R540 – R36) turn left to Lydenburg.
In Lydenburg at the Orighstad sign, turn left and follow the main road
of Lydenburg (De Klerk street) on the Orighstad road (R36), Follow the
R36 through Orighstad and through the Strijdom tunnel.
Turn left towards Tzaneen at the T-Junction (still R36), Follow the road
over the Oilifants River, past the Oaks (local Village) and Past Phalaborwa
/ Mica turn off ( +-10KM).
Turn Right at the Gravelotte turn off, this road becomes a Gravel road. Go through the boom Gate, Travel +- 10Km on the Gravel road to the Makalali Gate on your Right hand side.
