The lodge is nestled in the heart of Horseshoe Valley, on the banks of the Nahoon River, surrounded by lush vegetation, beautiful hills and an abundance of bird and wildlife and only 10 minutes from the centre of East London.

A tranquil location, perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway and for the independent traveller wanting a home-from-home base from which to explore the Garden Route, Wild Coast and the inland jewels of the Eastern Cape.

We are close to Hemingways Casino, the brand new enormous Hemingways Shopping Mall, pristine golf courses, East Coast Resorts with beautiful beaches and the Jikeleza Route. We speak english, afrikaans, flemish, german, dutch and french.

Thornycroft Lodge Accommodation

Our luxury suites open onto lush tranquil gardens ensuring you awake to the sound of birds song. The suites are designed for comfort, making use of space, natural light and uncluttered decor in earthy tones.
Each luxury is complete with a queen size bed, private bathroom, ceiling fan, electronic safe, complimentary tea or coffee station and a seperate living area with TV, mini bar and a home entertainment system.

The thatched poolside lapa features a bar, pool table, darts, Nintendo WII and big screen, and serves light lunches. Just off the bar is the winter lounge, with its large fire place and comfortable couches, perfect for enjoying a good read or a family board game.

There is secure parking for bikes and boats. Please advise us upon making your reservation.

Thornycroft Lodge Facilities

Our Spa takes care of all your relaxation needs with a professional and experienced therapist, beautiful treatment room with a sauna and jacuzzi.
Appointments should be made at the time of making your reservation, day visitors are welcome. The newly built conference venue can accommodate up to 150 delegates. It is fully equipped, and boasts with an adjacent garden with bar exclusively for the conference goers.

The cinema-style auditorium is air-conditioned and equipped with screens, data projectors with cables to connect to a laptop, dvd player, sound system, flip charts and white boards and comfortably seats up to 30 delegates.
For smaller conferences, a conference hall that seats 24 people could be used and a data projector set up in there. Overnight conferences can enjoy the added luxury of the bar, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and nature walks once conferencing is done for the day.

Bigger weddings are held in the beautiful hall that can comfortably accommodate 120 guests.Our all inclusive packages relieve you of the stressful task of coordinating the day, allowing you a blissful weekend with the wedding party before escaping to your honeymoon destination with your loved one.
Catering is done by our in-house chef who offers a variety of menus to suite every budget, from 5-course plated dinners for small weddings, over stylish snack trays to buffets and carveries.

The thatched lapa can accommodate 65 people for more informal functions such as year end parties, workshops etc. All catering is done by our in-house chef.

The thatched poolside lapa makes a romantic reception venue, accommodating up to 65 seated guests and 80 guests for a cocktail type reception.

How To Get To Thornycroft Lodge
Take the Amalinda exit from the N2. If you are coming from East London, turn right at the top of the exit. If you are coming from King William's Town, turn left at the top of the exit.
At the T-Junction turn left into Voortrekker Road. After 800 m, you will see a sign "Thornycroft Lodge".
Now just follow the signs.
Proceed through a gate and cross the river over the causeway, Thornycroft Lodge is on your right hand side, just after the sharp left bend. Part of the road is gravel, but it is in good condition. Please drive slowly.
