ATTRACTIONS / ACTIVITIES
The Clarens Golf Course was originally a 9 hole course but was recently upgraded and extended to an 18 hole championship course by Pinnacle Point Holdings, the developers of the popular Pinnacle Point in Mossel Bay.

The par 72 golf course, designed and constructed by Golf Data, is bound to excite every level of golfer. All 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its splendid series of trout dams and cascading waterfalls. The new Club House is well appointed and offers wonderful mountain views.

For the non-golfers there are plenty of other activities available. Hiking trails, mountain bike and 4 x 4 trails are all available in the near vicinity.
White water rafting is a popular activity in the warmer months and for those who love to ride there are some truly magnificent horse trails.

Apart from the breathtaking vistas and natural beauty of the nearby Golden Gate National Park, the Clarens region also makes claim to some of the finest trout fishing waters in South Africa.

For the strollers, there are a plethora of art galleries, restaurants and coffee shops in Clarens - you can just sit at a pavement café and watch the world go by.
There are also some very interesting speciality shops for the ‘shopperholics’ – in fact the village of Clarens has something to suit every taste.

Festivals
There are a number of festivals held in the area annually - The Clarens Visual Arts Festival, The Asparagus Festival in Fouriesburg, The Cherry Festival in Ficksburg (November) - all of which are worth a visit. It is also an easy day trip from Clarens to the mountain kingdom of Lesotho but please remember that your passport will be required.
