About Us
We bought Rosedale Farm in 1996, and farmed it conventionally for a few years. We were frustrated by many problems associated with conventional citrus production and in 2000 we decided to start converting it to organic production.
The conversion process took three years and in 2004 we started supplying the UK, EU and the local market with certified organic navel and Valencia oranges, lemons and clementines. Our production is certified by Ecocert according to EU standards.

The adoption of an organic approach to farming has led to a dramatic increase in soil fertility, and a drop in the occurrence of most pests and diseases.
Soils have changed from hard and unyielding to soft and pliable, teeming with earthworms. Our trees are healthier, and most pests are under natural control.
Many species of birds such as Guinea Fowl have dramatically increased in numbers, leading to a more complex and diverse environment.

Our farming practices cause large amounts of carbon to be sequestered every year. We 'fix' a lot more carbon every year than what we use in the form of diesel and electricity. When you stay with us you know you are minimizing the impact of travelling on the environment.

Tourist Attractions - The Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape is where one can start to experience the real Africa : from the unique bushveld thicket of Addo where elephants and the other big 5 roam freely, to the grasslands of Transkei and the marine reserve in Algoa Bay where whales calve and great white sharks lurk, the Eastern Cape offers great holidays and learning experiences.

It is an area filled with history - from the Frontier Wars of the 19th Century between the Xhosa nation and British and German Settlers, to the political leaders of the new South Africa, it will reveal its secrets to the eager visitor. It counts as its proudest sons Nelson Mandela and "Steve Biko".
Some interesting things to do in the Eastern Cape

- Go bungee jumping on the worlds highest commercial jump,
- Learn to surf on some of the worlds most perfect waves,
- Learn about our early colonial history,
- Enjoy a day trip on a narrow gauge steam train,
- Turn your ‘big 5’ viewing into the ‘big 7’ ,
- Visit a township to get an understanding of how the majority of South Africans live.

Addo
Addo is situated 60km north of Port Elizabeth. It is the home of the famous Addo Elephant National Park, home to more than 400 elephants, as well as Lion, Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard.
A history of the Addo elephants shows both the destructive and compassionate nature of man. In 1919, the Administrator of the Cape Province issued instructions for the ‘destruction of the entire herd’ of elephants.

By the following year only 15 panic stricken and bewildered animals were left. These animals became the backbone of the now protected herd, and their numbers have grown steadily ever since.

Addo is the centre of three thriving industries- conservation, tourism and farming. From our farms citrus fruits are exported around the world. The tourism sector offers a number of pubs and restaurants as well as a crocodile farm and a reptile and raptor centre.

Some interesting things to do in Addo
Visit the Addo Elephant National Park self drive/game drives both day and night/ guided horse trails.
Enjoy game drives and a boma meal at Schotia Safaris.
Ride on the back of an African Elephant and show your appreciation by feeding him some pellets.
