Amber Guest Lodge offers four-star bed and breakfast in Knysna, the destination of choice along South Africa's popular Garden Route, Western Cape.

Long famed for it's world-class selection of golf courses, breathtaking natural scenery, wide array of activities and temperate climate, Knysna has retained its unique village atmosphere.

The lodge is conveniently situated and luxuriously appointed - the perfect backdrop to a memorable holiday.
Our warm, friendly service will help you to get the most out of your visit, whether you prefer excitement and new experiences or simply to rest and recharge.

Amber Guest Lodge is tucked into the gentle sweep of Knysna's Eastern Head, which features vast swathes of indigenous fynbos vegetation.

As the lodge is slightly elevated, the patio offers stunning views of the lagoon and distant Outeniqua Mountains towards the West. It's just the place, then, from which to appreciate the ever-changing glows and fiery streaks of an African sunset.

Bed and breakfast accommodation includes a sumptuous full English spread served in the privacy of your own room or on the pool patio. The suites are spacious and tastefully decorated to soothe your senses.

Mere minutes away is arguably one of the finest golf courses in the world: Pezula. The Knysna Golf Club is a short drive in the opposite direction, while Simola is within easy reach too.

Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts are also spoilt for choice, while those in pursuit of culinary excellence and creative expression will welcome Knysna and the Garden Route's many top-class restaurants, art galleries and craft shops.
Janet and Derek at Amber Guest Lodge will gladly advise you on the best options and help to book tours, activities or entertainment.

We welcome children over the age of 12.

Activities in the Knysna area:
When in Knysna, you will never be stuck with nothing to do… unless that's just how you prefer it! Amber Guest Lodge is 5 minutes drive from Loerie Park Sport grounds. This venue is the hub for events taking place during the Pick ‘n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival.

Adventure:
The Southern Cape ranks high on the list of must-see places in the world for its variety of must-do adventure activities. Reliable and well-equipped operators offer: skydiving, paragliding, absailing, treetop forest canopy tours, bungy jumping and kloofing (canyoning) excursions, helicopter flights, sailing, deep-sea angling, surfing, kanoeing, windsurfing, waterskiing, scuba diving, snorkelling and horse riding.
Alternatively, hire a mountain bike or strap on your walking boots for a workout with a view, or sit back and enjoy a scenic boat trip on the lagoon.

Animals of the forest and ocean:
The Garden Route remains home to some special creatures: pack your binoculars and scan the skies for the brilliantly plumed Knysna Loerie, see the elusive Knysna sea-horse, walk trunk-in-hand with elephants, marvel at the astonishing array of free-roaming primates at Monkeyland and the largest free-flight aviary in the world - Birds of Eden, go on an ocean safari to view whales and dolphins, test your nerve at a reptile park or, for a beautiful experience, visit an indoor rainforest that is home to thousands of butterflies.

Creative interests:
Artists and crafters working in a range of mediums are continually attracted to and inspired by the natural beauty of this area. The multitude of galleries, craft/art routes and markets make it easy to find a special memento of your visit.

Food:
Knysna is synonymous with oysters. Farmed locally and best served fresh! Browse for interesting eats and home bakes at the town's delis and regular food markets, or indulge your inner gourmand at any one of the numerous excellent restaurants - there is something to suit every taste and budget. A visit is never complete without sampling the local ale too.

Golf in the area:
The Southern Cape's Garden Route has, with good reason, been described as "the unchallenged golf coast of Africa". It offers an astonishing array of choices to suit players of any skills level and budget - from family-friendly mashie courses to championship courses designed by some of the world's greats. Just as importantly though, is the majestic setting of these courses. Let play commence
