Directions
Getting there from the Information Centre
Kirkwall T.I.C. go out on to Junction Road and take the A965 for Stromness.
Turn right past the Swimming Pool, right turn again on to Hillside Road
and the cottage is 400m on the left.
From Stromness T.I.C. proceed along ferry road, then follow A965 in Kirkwall
direction till just before the war memorial where you turn left onto Hillside
Road.
Turn right up the hill and after 400 metres you will see the cottage on
the left.
Getting There by Railway
Scotrail from all Scottish departures to either Thurso or Wick or Aberdeen.
Getting there by Aeroplane
British Airways (UK) either from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness,
Wick or Sumburgh (Shetland) to Kirkwall (Orkney). From airport entrance
turn right, follow main road into Kirkwall then follow signs for Stromness
A965. When entering Stromness look out for swimming pool on your right,
take the first right just pastthe pool.
This will take you onto Hillside Road.
Turn right and head up hill for approximately 400 metres when you will
see the cottage No 30 on your left hand side.
Getting There by Ferry
NorthLink Ferries from Aberdeen or Lerwick to Kirkwall.
NorthLink Ferries from Scrabster to Stromness.
Pentland Ferries from Gills Bay to St Margaret's Hope.
John o' Groats ferries from John o' Groats to Burwick (May - September).
