Our motel is unique because it offers a beautiful sandy beach at your doorstep as well as magnificent views of the harbour, North Lake and the Atlantic Ocean. Our recently renovated rooms provide our guests a rare and wonderful experience: the convenience of a motel combined with the ambiance of a friend's beach house.

Within a two minute walk along the waterfront is the North Lake Harbour where you can watch the fishermen come in with their daily catch of lobsters and scallops and go deep sea or Blue Fin Tuna fishing.

Attractions

The Drive to Points East Beach Motel
As you travel the unspoiled eastern region of Prince Edward Island you will be captivated by the green rolling hills; the blue of the water against the stunning red soil and the white sand beaches that seem to go on forever. The Points East Coastal Drive is one or the prettiest drives on the island, especially the route from Souris to the Points East Beach Motel because you are constantly being surprised by gorgeous views of the ocean.

Fishing at North Lake Harbour “Tuna Capital of the World”
If you want to have a great fishing adventure then be sure to contact Captain Bruce of PEI Blue Fin Tuna Charters . They are offering “catch and release” trips to fish the Blue Fin Tuna (which weigh anywhere from 800 lbs. to 1500 lbs or even more). It is quite a site to see the fishermen bring one into the harbor!

At the Points East Beach Motel, you can just walk next door to North Lake Harbour and either get on the boat or wait for the fishermen to bring a Blue Fin into the harbour. You can always try your hand at Deep-Sea Fishing if you want something a little less challenging, but keep watch for the whales and you might get lucky and have one put on a show for you.

East Point Light House
Lighthouses are scattered across the island and you're in luck as the East Point Lighthouse is minutes away from the Motel. You can climb up to the top of this working lighthouse and see a magnificent view of the shores of Prince Edward Island and if you're extra lucky a whale or seals! Be sure to take your camera as it is a long way up...They also have a quaint café that offers light breakfasts and snacks.

Elmira Railway Museum
This is a great place to explore the railway history of Prince Edward Island. The Museum was established at the site of the original Elmira Railway Station, the eastern end point of the PEI train system. Here you will get a sense of what train travel was like in PEI at the beginning of the 20 th century and how the railway helped shape PEI's devlopment. You can take a ride around the area on a miniature train system, visit the gift shop and have a quick bite at their café. Bike Rentals are also available.

Confederation Trail
Eastern Prince Edward Island has lots to discover like its "Confederation Trail", which is a biking and walking trail that goes from one end of the island to the other. The trail goes from Tignish to the end of the line in Elmira where you will find the railway museum and bike rentals.

The government removed all of PEI 's railway tracks and converted the former train route into beautiful recreation trails for all to enjoy. These trails wind through fields, wooded areas and along the water ways. The starting point of Confederation Trail is just a couple of kilometers from the Point East Beach Motel.

Bird Watching
For the bird watchers there are 333 species of birds on Prince Edward IslandNearby, you can visit the Black Pond Bird Sanctuary which is a long established migratory bird sanctuary or East Point (near the lighthouse) which is part of the Atlantic Flyway.

The bald eagle is one of many that soar in the sky around the Points East Beach Motel. You can watch the eagles sitting on the cliff points looking for fish or circling high above the water waiting to swoop down for their prey --they are truly a magnificent bird. The Blue Heron is also in abundance on the island you can sometimes see 50 at a time in the waterways. Right here at the Points East Beach Motel you will be entertained by the many Hummingbirds that are getting a drink.

Provincial Parks and Supervised Beaches
Within a 10 minute drive, you can visit the Basin Head Provincial Park and Beach. This area is famous for its “Singing Sands” which squeak when you walk on them. This park has a gorgeous supervised beach, a fisheries museum and an ecology display.Scenic Drives Web SiteBe sure to drive down the many picturesque red clay heritage roads in the area.

At some parts, you will feel like you are driving through a solid tunnel of foliage in different shades of green in the spring and summer or reds and oranges in the fall—gorgeous and surreal. These roads are great for biking or finding farmers out in the fields planting or gathering their crops. Stop; ask questions they love to yarn as much as the fishermen do at the wharfs. Find out all about our industries right from the people who work them. Many of these red clay roads are considered shortcuts by the locals and are close to the motel so be sure to venture.
