Reviews of Kalahari Sands Hotel & Casino in Windhoek Namibia

I loved my room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. I was on the 14th floor and had a wonderful view of Windhoek! The breakfast buffet had really good variety all throughout my stay and i found the staff friendly. The location is superb, right in the heart of Windhoek. Here's the problem: smoking is permitted in the lobby.

I mean this is a public (and enclosed) area! It was a most unpleasant experience to be assailed by second hand smoke during check in. To make matters worse, ashtrays were not regularly emptied. Memo to hotel management: second-hand smoke is vile and hazardous.

Rooms are large, very comfortable, all amenities. Hotel has restaurant, spa and bars. Shops are around the corner, excellent location. I had to stay there because airline cancelled my flight, I stayed there only for some hours but it did help to relax from that stressful situation. I didn't have time to check the casino.

The service is slow....probably the worst of the many African hotels I've stayed at. The bathroom was not cleaned properly. The lobby stinks of cigarettes. There are hookers in the bar. The buffet is sub par. The rooms are a decent size.

We got a very good rate when we stayed at the Kalahari Sands. You will not have a better value for money in town. Rooms are very modern and well equipped; above all spacious.

Food choice including the room service is poor, so you will be better off eating out. It is a Casino hotel but if you need something in the City Centre then it is the place to go.
