Golf
The Winelands region is well known for its excellent golf courses such as Kleine Zalze, Spier, Stellenbosch, Erinvale, Devon Valley and Pearl Valley, which are all situated within a short drive from Villa Merwe.

Stellenbosch and surrounding area have a wide selection of upmarket restaurants, bistros, and sidewalk cafes for guests to choose from.

Stellenbosch Village
The Stellenbosch Village is famous for its oak-lined streets, historical buildings, museums, curio shops and boutiques. Restaurants and cosy sidewalk cafes line the shady streets, inviting people to observe the everyday activities of the locals.

Stellenbosch Wine Route
The Stellenbosch Wine Route is one of the country's most famous wine routes, and includes 106 cellars on the route. Most of the estates offer wine tasting, cellar tours and light lunches for visitors to enjoy.

Cape Town:
Cape Town is only 45 km from Stellenbosch and is an enjoyable day excursion from the Winelands. The city and peninsula offer many attractions for visitors to this region:

· Table Mountain is one of South Africa's most famous landmarks. The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animal species. Visitors can go up the mountain with the aerial cable car to view the Mother City 1085m above sea level.

· The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is the famous working harbour, shopping centre and entertainment centre with over 400 speciality shops, a craft market and more that 70 restaurants.

· Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

· A Cape Point and Peninsula trip can be enjoyed on a day visit to the region. Cape Point is the most south-westerly viewpoint of Africa. Situated in the Table Mountain National Park, a natural World Heritage Site, with more than 250 bird and 1100 indigenous plant species and also numerous scenic walks and trails.

· Robben Island, where the former South African President, Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, is now a World Heritage Site and provides stunning views across the bay with Table Mountain as it's backdrop. Visitors to Cape Town have the opportunity to visit the Island by taking a ferry trip from the V&A Waterfront.
