Enjoy our spectacular sunrises or have a sun downer on our 18 metre Bird Hide which offers unrivalled views of the Kruger Park and all the animals that come to refresh themselves or as the elephants and hippos do: Take a bath!
The camp itself is within a nature reserve and therefore has no fences so you get to share this space with the giraffes, zebra, warthogs and other game which roam freely throughout.

Situated in Nelspruit City which is the gateway to the Kruger, Blyde River Canyon, Mozambique and Swaziland, this vibey hostel has built up a really good reputation over the last 13 years. We offer a variety of accommodation and services within a relaxed and colourful setting.

Lodge Facilities And Service

Masungulo River Camp - Marloth Park (Shangane word meaning: A New Beginning)

Why not stop over for a little relaxation in our brand new Funky Bush Camp on the Kruger Park’s Crocodile River Boarder. Situated between the Malalane and Crocodile Bridge Kruger entrance gates, and a mere 25 km from the Mozambique Boarder this is the perfect stop over for people wanting to discover the Kruger or who are en-route to Mozambique or vice versa.

Home base to Funky Safaris, we offer one to four day fully inclusive Safaris into the Kruger Park with our registered guides and Open Safari Game Viewing Vehicles. Our fully equipped tented camp has a stunning 18 metre Bird Hide from which you will experience unrivalled views of the Kruger Park & all the animals wandering down for their daily water dose on the Crocodile River.

The camp itself is situated in a game reserve and has no fences which means that you get to share your time with the zebra, giraffe, warthogs and other game that roam freely. Facilities include a lapa and swimming pool to chill out in during the midday heat! Accommodation is in 3x3 metre dome safari tents which have beds and linen to ensure a comfy nights rest. Why not take a break in your journey and enjoy a little nature, take a walk along the Crocodile River, star gaze or just plain chill out & enjoy the African sunrise or sunset.

Activities and Attractions
Should you find yourself at Funky Monkeys with time on your hands be sure to join the Funky day trips to Sudwala Caves, Kaapsehoop, Chimpanzee Park or Township. These are precisely the encounters to pull you away from a boring, predictive novel, shopping in town or spend a day volunteering your service to community day care centre/Orphanage home/primary school or Home base care, this is surely time filled with fun and adventure!!!

Sudwala Caves:
This day tour provides you with an absolutely amazing day with your experienced spelunking guides. You will spend an hour inside the caves filled with amazing formations. Your guide will fill you with the history of this site how natives living in ‘under ground’ played an important and key role in the preservation of South Africa’s native governing and warring tribes. Sudwala caves will leave you with a desire to return for a deeper and perhaps, extended (eight hours spelunk into the less-explored deeper caves), more challenging cave adventure.

Kaapsehoop:
Your tour guide will introduce you to the charming and quaint mountain village. Your afternoon includes hiking among fascinating rock formations. You will spot herds of wild horses, the pure-breaded ancestors of miner’s pack animals;

You will have time to read spooky inscriptions on tombstones in the cemetery and see if you can find the ‘cursed” epitaph carved deeply on a child’s gravestone, End your hike with a brisk dip in a crystalline pool at the foot of a natural waterfall. This energy packed day-tour will leave you aching to return to this charming and beautifully restored community.

Chimp Eden:
Enjoy an hour playing and making friends with chimpanzees, tour depart at 9:30,11:30 and 13:30 every day .Tour guide will tell all the history of the orphaned Chimps rescued from the other side of Africa and given home in Nelspruit.

Township:
Is a fantastic and amazing day with Nitto where he will take you to experience the true South African life-style from all corners, your day will include a visit to local primary school, disable center, old age home, crafters, residents, shebeens, sangoma (traditional doctor),Tribal Authority and may be you will have a chance to chat with the Chief and get the sangoma to read your life on his/her magical bones before we go fill our stomachs with a tasty township lunch and beer, we’ll then drive slowly back along the crocodile river to see if we’ll find crocs bathing on the side of the river.

N.B All trips departs with a minimum of 2 persons
Transfers to and from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport are also arranged here.

Kruger Day Trip
We leave Nelspruit really early in the morning and transfer you to the world renowned Kruger Park to enjoy at least eight hours of game viewing in our Open Safari game viewing vehicles with a registered guide. . Kruger is home to 147 mammal (including the Big 5), 114 reptile & 502 bird species.

We take breaks in the various camps and picnic spots along the way in order to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat. After an exciting eight hours of game viewing, African Bushveld and education we sadly leave the park and transfer you back to your accommodation venue.

Blyde River Canyon Day Trip
We leave Nelspruit early morning and head up to the Blyde River Canyon for a day of sightseeing in one of the world’s largest canyons. We stop along the way to enjoy amongst others the Lisbon waterfalls, God’s Window, the Pinnacle, Burkes Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavals. Today a light lunch is included.
