CHIMP EDEN - JANE GOODALL INSTITUTE
Set on a 1000 hectare game reserve, JGI Chimpanzee Eden is a home to chimpanzees that have been misplaced from their natural habitat. The world renowned Jane Goodall Institute has made this tranquil venue their South African sanctuary and has committed itself to the rescue and care take of chimpanzees in need of refuge.

Being the 1st and only chimpanzee sanctuary in South Africa, this venue will be able to bring the world of chimpanzees closer to humanity through education, tourism and modern technology.

Entering the reserve, a mere 15 km from the bustling city of Nelspruit, visitors can expect to be captivated by the beautiful bush surroundings with most of the natural game species roaming the reserve.

THE LOWVELD BOTANICAL GARDEN
The character of the Garden is shaped by the two main rivers that cut across it, namely the Crocodile River and the Nels River. Before these two rivers converge in the Garden, they form spectacular waterfalls which can be viewed at the Cascades and the Nels viewpoints.

SUDWALA CAVES
The Sudwala Caves are the oldest known caves in the world. These incredible caverns lie in the Drakensberg escarpment Besides the awesome rock displays the caverns also boast an array of calcium formations, aged but active, anciently and patiently still growing.

THREE RONDAWELS
The ‘Three Rondawels' (also called 'Three Sisters’) are three huge spirals of dolomite rock rising out of the Blyde River canyon.

MAC MAC FALLS
The 65 m high Mac Mac Falls in the Mac Mac River is a declared National Monument. This waterfall was originally a single stream, but gold miners blasted it with dynamite to divert the river in an attempt to work the rich gold-bearing reef over which it plunges.

HISTORIC PILGRIMS REST
The history of this small delightful village dates back to 1873 when a miner, Alex Patterson, discovered alluvial gold on the farm named Ponieskrantz. The diggers called it Pilgrim's Rest because here, at last, after so many false trails and faded dreams they had truly found their home.

BURKE'S LUCK POTHOLES
The Potholes were named after a gold digger, Tom Burke, who staked a claim nearby. Although his claim did not produce a single ounce of gold, he correctly predicted that large gold deposits would be found in the area.

GOD'S WINDOW
With magnificent views, canyons, rock formations and waterfalls, God's Window is truly an area of breathtaking scenic splendour. Gods Window is so called for the panoramic view of the Lowveld

About Us
We, Cobus and Mel Tomlinson, owners of Abundance Lodge, invite you to experience truly authentic South African hospitality at our home and guest house. Being business people with our own training and skills development businesses, we are passionate about people and enjoy the variety of nationalities and cultures passing through our Nelspruit B&B.

The name, Abundance Lodge, replaced the name Alpenland in 2010 as a symbolic statement, representing the way in which we want our clients to experience their stay: ABUNDANTLY. Our promise of abundance is to give 5-star service in the comfort of our elegantly ethnic 3-star graded guest lodge.

All rooms have recently been upgraded with new percale linen, towels and soft furnishing. We pride ourselves in creating a rich, elegant environment – comfortable enough to feel at home, luxurious enough to feel spoilt. Each room offers complimentary toiletries, coffee trays, hairdryers and workstations.

Enjoy a wholesome breakfast, prepared with local fruit specialities, and a 3-course dinner, often featuring traditional South African dishes such as bobotie, venison potjie.

All meals are always accompanied by healthy, steamed vegetables and fresh salads. Our chef, Surprise, is well known for her delicious cakes and desserts – the most popular being her unforgettable carrot-banana cake.
