Nestled at the foot of the magnificent Steenkamps Mountains and overlooking the Kwena Dam, Lydenrust Guest Farm is situated on 320 hectares of farmland in the Kwena Basin, 30km from Lydenburg, in Mpumalanga.

Enjoy stunning scenery from the back of a horse on one of our 1-2 hour trails, or set out on foot with a picnic basket on one of our demarcated foot paths up the mountain. Whether your interests include horse-riding, bird watching, hiking, mountain-biking, or just laying back and relaxing, you are surrounded by the beauty of nature and the magnificent views.

Lydenrust Guest Farm is a two and a half hour drive from Pretoria and 3 hour drive from Johannesburg. Dullstroom, Pilgrim’s Rest, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Blyde River Canyon, Nelspruit, Sabie and Graskop are only a short drive away.

Palomino Cottage consists of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms sleeping 5-6 persons comfortably , a cozy living area complete with DVD player & DVD selection, fireplace and a fully serviced kitchen. Pets welcome.

Built from stone with a thatched roof, Palomino Cottage stays cool during the summer months and warm during winter. Relax and unwind on your private verandah with braai facilities overlooking a gurgling stream and paddock where the horses graze contentedly.

Directions from Pretoria
1. Get onto the N4 and drive east for 217KMs.
2. At the N4 split, after the Machadodorp toll plaza, keep left onto the R36 to Lydenburg & Nelspruit via Schoemanskloof.
3. After 15.5 KMs, turn left onto the R36 to Lydenburg, opposite the Bambi Hotel.
4. Drive 18 KMs take the Rustenburg turnoff to the left opposite the Kwena Dam (GPS Co-ordinate S25 21.515 E30 21.089)
5. Drive approximately 3.5 KMs to entrance gate to Lydenrust's Appaloosa House, No. 18 or Lydenrust's Brumby Backpackers Lodge, no. 15.

Directions from Nelspruit
Take the N4 out of Nelspruit past Halls Store. Travel for 22 kms and turn right onto the SCHOEMANSKLOOF bypass. Travel on this road till you see the Bambi Lodge and LYDENBURG sign on your left, turn right onto the R36 to LYDENBURG.

Continue for about 18 kms, RUSTENBURG sign on left hand side, turn left (Kwena Dam and a very distinguishing koppie is visible on the right hand side of the road). Follow this gravel road for +- 3,5kms to Lydenrust's Appaloosa House - no.18
