Never have the Elephants of the Addo Elephant National Park been so close to the Addo Gateway Lodge. Since the extension of the park in 2010 and the opening of the Addo South Gate near Colchester on the National Freeway N2 , where the Guesthouse is located herds of Elephants have migrated to the Southern part of the Park.
Addo Gateway Lodge Accommodation
Our upmarket Bed and Breakfast accommodation establishment with a self-catering
option, is set in a beautiful garden and sleeps 8. All rooms exit on to
new extended deck over new paved parking area with view of the Sundays
River and majestic dunes across the road.
All rooms have their own private entrance, fans, heaters, TV, coffee &
tea facilities, use of fully equipped kitchen (for self-catering guests
and / or lunch or dinner preparing), lounge, dining room with indoor braai
/ lapa, communal TV plus DSTV connection (bring your own decoder), entertainment
system & games, music center, Videos and DVD's to hire.
ROOM 1 : DOUBLE ROOM + PRIVATE BATHROOM
Sunny and comfortable room with double bed - with separate private bathroom,
TV, radio, fan, heater,coffee / tea facilities,private exit / entrance
to open deck with view of river and dunes across the road, with safe parking
in lovely garden setting and parking bay / driveway.
ROOM 2 : TWIN ROOM EN-SUITE
2 x Single beds with en-suite shower & toilet, fan, heater, fridge
and amenities, TV, radio, coffee & tea facilities, own exit / entrance
to beautiful big open deck, with view of river and dunes across the road,
and lovely garden setting in front of lodge, with safe parking.
ROOM 3 : FAMILY ROOM EN-SUITE
Double bed + 1 x double bunk-bed with en-suite shower & toilet, TV,
radio, fan, heater, coffee/tea facilities, private exit / entrance to
a lovely private courtyard at the back of lodge, with easy access to indoor
swimming pool in the next building.
Addo Gateway Lodge Facilities
Apart from our 3 bedroom lodge, we also offer a 2 bedroom cottage and
is now also APD APPROVED, having a full wheelchair accessible double room
for the physically disabled.
Explore the Sundays River Estuary while enjoying a cruise on the SUNDAYS
RIVER FERRY or swim in a safe lagoon at the river mouth, where the Ferry
will more for a relaxing time, after climbing the wonderful dunes with
the most exquisite views of the sea, islands, sand dunes and Port Elizabeth
on the horizon.
Or relax on the open deck of the lodge with a glass of wine, taking in
a spectacular view of the beautiful sand dunes and river across the road.
A rich variety of bird life can be observed and the river boasts a number
of estuarine fish species. Wonder through the bonsai garden with exceptional
trees on view for the bonsai enthusiasts.
Enjoy the tranquility of this safe village, nestled along the majestic
Sundays River Estuary with the world renowned Alexandria / Colchester
dune fields on its banks, which is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere
and the second largest in the world.

How To Get To Addo Gateway Lodge
Drive 35 - 40km from Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown on the N2 highway across the Sundays River and after 3km, turn right and follow our sign on the board at the T-Junction. Do not drive all the way to N10 or R72.
