Wigtown hotelOrchard Cottage has been made the cottage as green as possible.
We built from the original stone, and added a super-insulated internal frame, under-floor heating, sun tunnels, energy saving appliances and environmentally friendly features that don’t compromise your comfort.

Orchard Cottage Accommodation

The cottage includes light airy kitchen/living/dining area with wood burning stove.
A king size bed occupies the master bedroom, while there is a double and twin room, both with en suite shower rooms.
Next to the master bedroom is a large bathroom, with extra large bath for soaks after long walks.
Orchard Cottage sleeps six in an eco-friendly converted barn in rolling countryside with sea views nearby.

Cottage is located between Wigtown and Whithorn close to plenty of beaches, walking and quiet roads for cycling.

Directions

Getting there from the Information Centre

Leave Newton Stewart TIC heading for Wigtown and follow directions below.

Getting There by Car
Turn off the A75 at Newton Stewart on to the A714 headed for Wigtown, Whithorn.
After 5 miles turn right on the B7005 to Port William and Whithorn.
About two miles down the road you will cross straight over the roundabout at Bladnoch Distillery and over the bridge.
Follow the road A746 and after a mile you will pass through the villages of Braehead and Kirkinner.
The road forks shortly after leaving the village and the left fork is signposted Garlieston – take this road.
There is a lodge almost immediately on your left and immediately after it turn left down the deadend road.
Orchard Cottage is the third building on the right after the large farm house and a bungalow.
The drive is after the pasture with stone wall.

Getting There by Railway
Stranraer station is the closest, a car is required.

Getting there by Aeroplane
Prestwick or Glasgow airports are 2 hours and 3 hours respectively.

Getting There by Ferry
From Stranraer follow the A75 to Newton Stewart.
Then follow instructions by car following the A714.
