Melrose hotelThe Old Dairy is a listed sandstone cottage situated in the conservation village of Darnick adjoining Melrose within 1 mile of the centre of Melrose, half a mile of the River Tweed and with views to the beautiful Eildon Hills.

Dating back to the early nineteenth century this former dairy has been converted to an extremely high standard providing spacious and luxurious accommodation for four people.

In addition the cottage has the unusual benefit of an integral garage providing secure parking as well as safe storage for bikes, golf equipment and fishing rods (the garage is fitted with rod rack and freezer).
Melrose is a superb base both for the sightseer and the sports minded.

The cottage is tastefully furnished throughout with mainly antiques.
All the main rooms are large and include sitting room with log burning stove, 2 double bedrooms one with king size bed the other with twin beds, newly fitted dining kitchen, and utility room.

Activities
There is a wonderful range of abbeys, castles and stately homes to explore, whilst for the lover of outdoor sports there is top class fishing, golf, mountain biking and walking.
The world famous rugby sevens began at Melrose and the annual sevens tournament in April is a must for rugby enthusiasts.
The annual pipe band competition and book festival add to the diverse appeal of this vibrant border town.

Directions
Getting There by Car
The two main roads into Melrose from North or South are the A68 and the A7.
Once in Melrose drive down the main High Street past the petrol station on your left and the rugby ground to your right.
At the fork in the road after approx 300 metres take the left hand fork down High Cross Avenue signposted Darnick (B6394).
Continue into Darnick village on Abbotsford Road .
Smiths Road is a small quiet road off to the left just behind a small grassed area and bus stop.
The Old Dairy is the first cottage you will see on the left hand side of the road.
Getting There by Railway
Melrose is approximately one hour by car from both Edinburgh and Berwick on Tweed mainline stations.
Buses to Melrose run regularly from both Edinburgh and Berwick.
Getting there by Aeroplane
Melrose is approximately 1 hour from Edinburgh airport via A68.
