Sealladh na Mara (pronounced Shall-uh nuh Maa-ruh and Gaelic
for "View of the sea") is a spacious, modern, detached house
accommodating eight.
Close to the seashore and set in about an acre of wild, partly wooded garden, there are stunning views across Inverkirkaig Bay to the Assynt mountains.
Sealladh na Mara Accommodation
Sealladh na Mara is furnished and equipped to a very high standard with four large bedrooms, one with balcony overlooking the sea. There is a bathroom with spa bath and a separate shower room. The kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances.
Downstairs rooms have polished hardwood floors with rugs and from the dining room double doors lead to a verandah. The house is double glazed and has oil fired central heating.

On arrival a small welcome pack of Scottish produce awaits visitors. Price includes central heating, electricity, initial supply of fuel for stove, bed linen and towels. A cot with bedding, high chair and baby bath are provided.
The Local Area
Inverkirkaig is a small community three miles south of the busy fishing
village of Lochinver, where there are many facilities including shops,
cafes, petrol, tourist information centre, post office, bank and health
centre. In Ullapool, forty minutes drive to the south, is the ferry terminal
for the Isle of Lewis, large new supermarket, leisure centre, swimming
pool and golf course.
The surrounding area is famed for its wildlife; otters, seals, red and roe deer, pine martens, golden eagles and divers may be seen. There is a wealth of plant life including many alpine species and orchids. West Sutherland is a popular area with walkers, mountaineers, geologists and anglers. Mountain bikes can be hired in Ullapool. Close by there are fine white sand beaches for relaxing and bathing.
DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:
From Lochinver Tourist Information Centre drive towards harbour. Turn
left at Royal Bank of Scotland along single track road through Strathan
to Inverkirkaig. Before road descends to the sea, turn right along "no
through road". Sealladh na Mara is almost at the end of the road.
Getting There by Ferry:
From Ullapool ferry terminal take the A835 north. At Ledmore junction
turn left on A837 to Lochinver, drive through village. Turn left at Royal
Bank of Scotland along single track road through Strathan to Inverkirkaig.
Before road descends to the sea, turn right along "no through road".
Sealladh na Mara is almost at the end of the road.
