Lochcarron hotel Lotta Dubh is a modern, family run Bed & Breakfast in Ardaneaskan, 6 miles from Lochcarron. Set in a rural crofting township on the North shore of Loch Carron, we have sea views from all sides.

Otters, deer and eagles are all in the area, but sightings are not guaranteed. Seal trips from Plockton (on the other shore) do however guarantee sightings of seals, or you get your money back.

At a latitude of 57 degrees North the long daylight hours in summer mean you can fit a lot of touring into each day.

Lotta Dubh Accommodation

We have one twin room and one large family room. Both are upstairs and en-suite. The Family Room has one double bed and two single beds with plenty of room for an additional fold-out bed. Travel cot and high-chair are also available. There is an en-suite shower room, colour TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities.

Also in the family room there is a comfortable seating area. This room can be made available as a double, twin or triple room. Views from this room are of the sea and the Cuillin Hills on the Isle of Skye. Reduced rates for children.

The Twin Room has two single beds along with a comfortable seating area, en-suite shower room, colour TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. The views from this room are of the sea and across to the other side of Loch Carron.

Breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 8:30am.Guests can have fruit juice and a choice of cereals followed by a full Scottish breakfast also toast and preserves along with tea and coffee. With prior arrangement, individual dietary needs can usually be catered for.

Ample car parking is available. Open all year.

Area Attractions
Lotta Dubh is set amongst the stunning scenery of Wester Ross. It is an ideal base for hillwalkers and those wishing to tour the surrounding area. Locally we have Lochcarron Tartan Weavers and the Smithy Heritage Centre along with pottery and craft shops.

Excellent day trips are the Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle and Inverewe Gardens. Not to be missed is the breathtaking drive to Applecross, over the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) which is the highest road in Britain.

The Capital City of the Highlands, Inverness, is about 1 ½ hours drive away. We are 10 miles from Strathcarron railway station from where you can get the train to Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh.The trip to Kyle of Lochalsh offers stunning coastal views.

Lotta Dubh has been graded by Visit Scotland since 2003 and consistently awarded 3 stars, and we are also members of Bed and Breakfast Nationwide.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From Gairloch Tourist Information Centre turn left to junction. Turn right (A832) for 20 miles to Torridon. Continue for another 20 miles to Lochcarron. At start of village turn right at signpost to Ardaneaskan. Continue for 6 miles to end of road. Lotta Dubh is signposted next to the phone box.

From Strathcarron Information Centre go west to Lochcarron. At end of village turn left at sign to Ardaneaskan. Continue for 6 miles to end of road. Lotta Dubh is signed at phone box.

Getting There by Railway:
From Strathcarron train station, 10 miles from establishment, take the A890 for 1 mile north, then turn left on to the A896 going west for 3 miles. turn left on to an unclassified road sign posted for Ardaneaskan follow for 5 miles. Lotta Dubh is at the very end of the village.
