Lochboisdale hotelFrom the profusion of wildlife to the breathtaking natural beauty, to the awe inspiring historical landmarks, the Western Isles are truly a destination to be on any intrepid traveller's itinerary.

Frobost Lodge is located in the heart of South Uist on the Western Isles of Scotland, making it the perfect base camp for exploration and adventure on the world's best secret.

A place where not only time has stood still but a place where the people and the surroundings bring back the memories of a time once known. The true gem of the British Isles is the Hebrides, with pristine beaches that are attracting more visitors every day.

The islands of the Outer Hebrides not only boast fantastic landscapes and surf but have a diverse wildlife population, including dolphins, minke whale, porpoise, seals and puffin that can be viewed in their relatively unscathed habitats.

The clear, pollution-free water is rife with tropical sea colours and plant life. Land lovers can hike the rugged coastal landscape, where eagles, gannets, rabbits and deer can be seen in abundance.

South Uist has a nature reserve and a number of archaeological sites, including the only location in Great Britain where prehistoric mummies have been found.

The western part of South Uist is a low-lying coastal plain with a continuous sandy beach, while the east coast of South Uist is mountainous with Beinn Mhor peak at 620 metres high and Hecla at 606 metres.

From the destination of wildlife to the awe inspiring historical landmarks, the Western Isles are truly a destination to be on any intrepid traveller's itinerary.
