Kyle of Lochalsh hotel Welcome to Prosen Hostel!

Prosen Hostel opened 2007. It is a 18 bed bunkhouse in Glen Prosen on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park and nine miles north of Kirriemuir.

Easy access to the South Cairngorms Footpath Network (to Glen Clova, Glen Isla and Deeside. 4 Star Grading.

Prosen Hostel Accommodation

The Hostel comprises 2 rooms with 4 bunks, 1 room with 2 bunks and 2 single beds and 1 room with 6 bunks. Linen provided. There are 5 showers with plenty of hot water and 3 toilets. A walk in disabled shower & toilet is available.

A fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer and a table seating for 18 persons. There is a woodburning stove and Internet access.

There is a large lawn and picnic bench outside (camping available by prior arrangement), also sheds for bikes, laundry & drying facilities.

Groups
We welcome groups, and the village hall is close by if you want a party. Please contact us for group bookings, we offer a substantial discount if you take the whole hostel. Overflow camping available, by prior arrangement.

Local Attractions
The Minister's Path, to Glen Clova, part of the recently upgraded East Cairngorms footpath trail, runs nearby. Also the newly opened link along the river Prosen and across Cormuir to join the Cateran trail in Glen Isla.

We are on the very southernmost edge of Cairngorms National Park. Red squirrel often pass the window. The glen is teeming with wildlife including blackgame, ptarmigan; if you are lucky, you may see an otter or an eagle!

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From Kirriemuir follow signs to Glenprosen (B955). At Dykehead the main road bears right, you fork left (signed Glenprosen). Carry on for 7 miles to Glenprosen village. The public road ends in at a red telephone kiosk in the village, here you turn very sharp right and follow the tarmac up the hill approx. 150m till you reach the Hostel.

Getting There by Car:
skip From Kirriemuir follow signs to Glenprosen (B955). At Dykehead the main road bears right, you fork left (signed Glenprosen). Carry on for 7 miles to Glenprosen village. The public road ends in at a red telephone kiosk in the village, here you turn very sharp right and follow the tarmac up the hill approx. 150m till you reach the Hostel.

Getting There by Railway:
From Dundee follow the signs for Aberdeen/Forfar and take the appropriate turn, still following the A90, (to the left, about 3 miles along the ring road).

You will reach Forfar after 10 minutes; take the third turnoff into Forfar (signed Forfar & Kirriemuir). Head into Forfar and when you reach the first roundabout turn left (signed Memus, Glenprosen, Glenclova). Take the first turn left (after about 1 mile) signed Glen Clova/Glen Prosen. Simply follow these signs till you reach Dykehead (approximately 15 min's).

Getting there by Aeroplane:
