Invergarry is a village at the foot of Glengarry, on the main Fort William - Inverness road through the Great Glen. Loch Oich, Loch Garry and the Glengarry Forest are among the natural attractions of the area, and the ruined 17th century Invergarry Castle is on the shire of Loch Oich.

Invergarry Hotels Our spacious comfortable Lodges are terraced into the hillside in an elevated position above Ardgarry Farm, offering panoramic views across the Glen to the surrounding mountains and pine forests.

The peaceful rural location of Ardgarry Farm makes it an ideal base for a family holiday or a couple looking to get away from it all.

We are a small working farm with a fine selection of friendly animals which wander freely about the farm. There are chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and more. There's also Tess and Cally our Shetland pony's and a number of sheep.

Highgarry Lodges Accommodation

The Norwegian lodges are constructed of solid round pine logs, interlocked together to form a substantial well insulated construction capable of withstanding the coldest winter, being fully double glazed and with heating to all rooms only adds to your further warmth and comfort.

The open plan lounge, dining and well equipped kitchen easily caters for up to 6 people. There are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin (all bed linen provided). The bathrooms have a bath and a Power shower.

All lodges are equipped with a fire extinguisher, fire blanket, first aid kit, and smoke alarms. Satellite TV & DVD In all Lodges.

Additional facilities
· Cots and high chairs are available free of charge.
· We have a Laundry, Drying room
· Mountain Bikes are available for hire
· Two pets are allowed per Lodge

Invergarry
Invergarry is a village steeped in history and lies at the East end of Glengarry. Local services include a hotel, post office, petrol station/shop, café & visitor centre.

An abundance of wild life exists in and around the Invergarry. Glengarry forest is just 10 minutes walk from Ardgarry Farm. The forest has a good selection of well defined walks taking in waterfalls and the River Garry, which is regularly used for white water rafting and kayaking.

The Great Glen Way/Cycle track passes through the village and we are are ideally located for hill or long distance walking and cycling. Most outdoor pursuits can be accessed locally and a Water Sports centre is just 5 kms away.

To the west of Invergarry lies Fort William (40km) and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom. To the east is Fort Augustus (11km) and Loch Ness, or you could visit the Isle of Skye taking in the breathtaking scenery along the way. This too can easily be accessed from Invergarry.

Activities and Attractions
Ardgarry Farm is ideally situated for touring the West Highlands, as roads lie in three directions from Invergarry. To the west lies Fort William with all the usual amenities you would expect to find in a town. To the east you travel along the length of world famous Loch Ness to the beautiful city of Inverness.

Alternatively, you could visit the Isle of Skye with its breathtaking scenery. We have put together here some suggestions of places that you may like to visit during your stay with us.

Places to go
There are some lovely walks in and around the area including:

Loch Lundie
Head towards the village, 100mtrs after Glengarry Village hall, walk up between the white houses on the left, through gate, follow track eventually turning right after 500mtrs. Follow the path up to the loch. Time 1 hr approx. It is also possible to walk to Fort Augustus via the Loch.

Nevis Range
Ride the Gondola for spectacular views, good skiing, three downhill mountain bike tracks and walks, food available from the restaurant. Located on the A82 some 4 miles this side of Fort William.

The Abbey, Caledonian Canal and Locks, and General Wade's road at Fort Augustus.

Urquhart Castle
On the side of Loch Ness. Located on A82 about 1 mile west of Drumnadrochit.

Cawdor Castle and gardens
Fairy tale castle linked with Shakespeare and Macbeth. Located off the A96 between Inverness and Nairn.

Glen Elg
This is where Gavin Maxwell found inspiration and wrote the famous book about the otter. “Ring of Bright Water”. Located off the A87, towards the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Glen Affric
Surely one of the most picturesque places in Scotland. Beautiful Lochs and Forest walks.

Commando Memorial Monument
Located in Spean Bridge (east) A82 road to Fort William. Visit the Commando Museum in Spean Bridge.

Things to do
Fishing locally
On Loch Oich, Loch Lundie, River Oich, and the River Garry. Salmon, Trout, Pike and Char are regularly caught. We can issue permits for all, except the River Garry.

Other excursions are:
· Torlundy Trout fishery
· Sea fishing at Kinloch Hourn and Fort William.
· Boat trips to Seal Island from Fort William.
· Boat trips on Loch Ness from Fort Augustus.

The boats are fitted with sonar which can plot the bottom of the Loch and highlight fish shoals. The boatmen claim to have picked up large unexplainable objects on sonar while cruising on the Loch.

Close to Fort William, Highland riding centre Borlum Farm Drumnadrochit, and The Inverness Equestrian Centre on the South side of Loch Ness.

Loch Ness Monster exhibitions at Drumnadrochit
Monster Activities on Loch Oich. Windsurfing, Canoeing, Water Skiing, Fishing, Boat hire and Clay Pigeon shooting. 2 miles West of Invergarry on A82 towards Fort William.

Golf courses at Fort Augustus - 9 holes testing (01320) 366309. Fort William-18 holes (01397) 704464 and Spean Bridge are all only a short drive away. There are five more courses all within an hour’s drive, of which three are at Inverness. Eden Court Theatre Inverness

Cycling
We have several mountain bikes available for hire. There are a number of cycle tracks close by, taking you through forests, along Lochs and the Caledonian Canal. It’s possible to cycle West to Fort William or East to Invermorriston and beyond, hardly using any public roads.

Eating out locally
There are numerous pubs, hotels and restaurants at Fort Augustus and further afield at Spean Bridge and Fort William.

Whisky
There are over 400 malt whiskies available produced by a number of distilleries, several are within easy reach.

Location of Ardgarry Farm
Surrounded by towering mountains and deep blue lochs, Ardgarry farm is set in one of the most beautiful and spectacular areas of the Western Highlands. Easily reached and conveniently situated, it is the perfect base for your holiday in the Scottish Highlands.

Its location half way between Fort William and Inverness makes it ideal for visiting many of the Highlands' most famous attractions, including the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan and many more.

By Road:
We are situated just off the A82 which runs between Inverness and Glasgow, some 25 miles north of Fort William. Journey time from Inverness is about one hour whilst the journey from Glasgow takes approximately three hours.
Once you reach Invergarry take the A87 and continue for 1 mile. Turn right at Faichem signpost and bear left. Continue up the hill and we are the first entrance on the right.

By Rail:
The nearest train services run to Fort William (25 miles) and Inverness (40 miles) stations. Car hire is available from both stations.

By Plane:
The most convenient airport is Inverness (45 miles). For international flights Glasgow is 130 miles away. Car hire is available at both airports.

For taxi services at Glasgow Airport whether to the centre of Glasgow for onward travel, or even all the way to the Highlands.
