The former Coach House now completely renovated provides a modern wing with superb views from the balcony over looking a beautiful walled garden and down the course of the River Tweed to Abbotsford the Home of the famous Scottish author and poet Sir Walter Scott.

There is easy access from the gardens to the riverside that has excellent picnic areas.

The Coach House Accommodation

The accommodation which has full central heating comprises:-

GROUND FLOOR:
A fully fitted luxury kitchen with seating for six people for casual eating. There are glass doors through to the sitting room/dining room.
For those cosy winter breaks this has a large stone walled fireplace with a wood burning stove and for the summer days, patio doors opening onto the courtyard with private parking area.

Also downstairs is a comfortable and attractive double bedroom overlooking the garden with a modern four poster bed and fully fitted wardrobes. A utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a shower room with wash basin and w.c.

UPSTAIRS A spacious open plan lounge with patio doors along one side opening on to a balcony with wonderful views over the gardens to the River Tweed. The sofa can also be used as a double bed.

The double bedroom has garden views and a king size bed and fitted wardrobes. There is also a pretty twin bedroom with single beds which has a natural stone wall and coombed ceiling. A luxury bathroom with a large corner bath, washbasin, w.c. and a bidet.

THE GARDEN In the beautiful walled garden there are secluded seating areas for catching the sun whilst enjoying that good book or sipping your evening drink watching the sun set over the river. On the patio there is garden furniture, a parasol and also a barbeque for your al fresco dining.

A walk through the grounds leads you down to the banks of the river for either picnicking, walking, fishing or bird-watching.
There are over fifty different varieties of trees in the grounds and we have recorded many different species of birds. Can you add to our list? You could try your hand at putting or croquet or just relax and put your feet up!

Location:
Close by are the towns of Galashiels, Melrose and Selkirk with shops, swimming pools, a cinema and numerous good restaurants. The coast is only 30 miles away and Edinburgh a 50 minute drive. Locally there are the Border Abbeys of Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh. For the energetic there are beautiful walks including the Southern Upland Way and the Eildon Hills.

Set between the lakes of Northern England and the towering grandeur of the Highlands, the Scottish Borders has a character that is all it's own.

The land where the Border Reivers rode their disputed boundaries; the land of history folklore and legend; now with it's gentle rolling hills, meandering rivers, ancient Border Abbeys and castles, numerous golf courses and beautiful gardens, it provides a peaceful and relaxing ambience for that special holiday visit.

Enjoy wandering the lanes or strolling along the banks of the River Tweed. Quiet roads, deserted hills and valleys and miles of forest trails for walking, cycling or pony trekking. The rivers with their trout and salmon beats are world renowned and many beautiful lochs may be found hidden in the valleys providing not only sport but a peaceful and unique get away from it all experience.

Directions to the Coach House:
Driving from the South, you will either approach by the A7 from Carlisle or the A68. From the North you will approach by the A72 from Peebles or the A7 from Edinburgh.
The Hawthorns is located on the left hand side of the A7 approximately 3 miles outside of Galashiels heading towards Selkirk.
