Fort William HotelsBalcarres is a quality Bed and Breakfast in the Scottish Highlands. They moved from Hampshire to Fort William in 2008 and they would like to share with their guests the wonderful views and hospitality that greeted them when they moved to Balcarres.

From its elevated position Balcarres commands spectacular views over Loch Linnhe and beyond to the Ardgour Hills. Balcarres is an ideal base from which to tour the Highlands, Skye and the Islands.

With their own private parking you can leave your car and take a 15-minute stroll alongside Loch Linnhe into Fort William town centre.

Ben Nevis is a short drive away, and a trip to Aonach Mor gives you the opportunity to take a gondola ride to catch breathtaking views of the surrounding area, or for walkers Glen Nevis is a must with the awe inspiring Steall Falls with its wire rope bridge for the more adventurous.

They welcome well-behaved pets by arrangement at Balcarres, and they are happy to dog sit whilst you eat out at one of the many eateries in Fort William.

Dining Room
Guests can enjoy their breakfast in their bright and airy dining room with loch views. They offer a full breakfast, but for guests who may prefer a lighter breakfast they offer a continental or vegetarian option. Breakfast is served between 08.00am and 09.00am but they are happy to serve earlier breakfasts by arrangement.

They have a comfortable lounge for their guests to relax in. Tea and coffee facilities are available, along with information regarding local places of interest.

Bedrooms
All their bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Each room is equipped with a television, clock radio, and hair dryer and tea-making facilities. Their family room has one double and one single bed or with two full size bunk beds and a double bed. A cot is available for babies and toddlers.

Location:
Balcarres is located approximately half a mile outside Fort William town centre, off the main road approaching the town from the south. It is in a peaceful elevated position, enjoying great views over Loch Linnhe, and the Morvern Mountains beyond.

To reach Balcarres when approaching Fort William from the south along the A82 turn right into Seafield Gardens shortly after the 30 mph sign. Follow the road round, and then turn off taking the sharp turn left. Balcarres is the 3rd house along on the right.

For any general travel/timetable enquiries, there is a nationwide travel information service available, called Traveline Scotland. One number gives access to information about all rail, coach, bus, ferry and internal air services in Scotland.

By Car
Fort William is well signposted with access via the A82 from the North and South. Approximate driving times are one and a half hours from Inverness and two and a half hours from Glasgow. The AA website contains a journey planner which you may find useful when planning your trip. If you are travelling by bus, then a regular bus service runs from Inverness in the North, and Glasgow in the south.
By train
Scotrail runs a regular service from Glasgow Queen Street along the famous West Highland line. The train station is a walk of half an hour away, though taxis are readily available at the station and the fare is approximately £3.00. There is also a sleeper service available from London.
By plane
The closest airport is Inverness Airport (70 miles) from where you can hire a car. The closest international airport is Glasgow Airport, which is approximately 100 miles away. Car hire is also readily available here.
