Fort Augustus is a small village at the southern end of Loch Ness on the Caledonian Canal. The Caledonian Canal, connecting Corpach near Fort William with Clachnaharry in Inverness, was completed in 1822. It is over 60 miles long, but more than two thirds of its length consists of three connected lochs - Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy.

Bedrooms:
Our rooms are well appointed with windows in the Victorian style. The rooms are bright, comfortable and centrally heated with television, hair dryer and refreshment tray. *WiFi Internet available*

We have single, double, twin, triple or family rooms. All are en-suite most with a bath and shower. They are arranged over three floors and are reached by way of an attractive stair case.
There is a large family room which is also ideal for three adults.

Dining Room:
For a great start to the day enjoy a freshly cooked Scottish breakfast, from the grill, with fried or scrambled eggs. Or you may prefer French Toast with Maple Syrup, perhaps some fruit yoghurt, cereal and toast is more to your liking. Whatever your choice you are free to enjoy, at your leisure.

Just a two minute walk takes you to the bus stop on the main road, where a cheap, excellent bus service will speed you to your selected destination in and around the city centre.

Perhaps Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace or the historic Royal Mile is of interest to you. Maybe the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Zoo or the Royal Botanic Gardens are more to your taste. If you are a fan of the Da Vinci Code then Rosslyn Chapel is only a short ride away. If retail therapy is your desire then Edinburgh has its very own exclusive department store, Jenners, on Princes Street, now competing with the new kid on the block, Harvey Nichols, at St Andrew's Square.

Directions:
We are situated one mile south of Edinburgh city centre. East Mayfield runs between the A701 (Mayfield Gardens/Minto Street) and the A7 (Dalkeith Road)

Directions by train or bus
From Waverley train or St. Andrew`s bus stations - Walk to Princes Street, the bus stop is next to the shops. Take any nos. 3, 7, 8, 29, 31, 37. Get off at the second stop in Minto Street, (Just past the Minto Hotel) turn left at the lights in East Mayfield. Sonas is 20 yards down on the right.. A taxi from Waverley Station will take approx. 10 minutes.

Directions by plane:
From Edinburgh Airport - Take the airport bus to the city centre stop which is outside the Waverley Station then either use the above instructions for the bus or take a taxi. A taxi direct from the airport takes approx. 25 minutes.

Directions by car
Coming from the South on A1 or A68
Join the A720 by-pass, turn off at the large roundabout (Sherrif Hall) on to A7 follow Edinburgh South, City Centre signs. ( Don't go the wrong way to Dalkeith on the A7)
Follow this road for 3.5 miles into Edinburgh and you will come to a large traffic junction with a rail bridge going over it. Go round this under the bridge and sharp left (sign posted A7) you are now in Dalkeith Road. (see map). At the second set of traffic lights (Half a mile) turn left into East Mayfield. SONAS is the last Guest House on the left.
Coming from the North or West M9 or M8
Join the A720 by-pass, turn off at A701 sign posted Straiton Junction, Edinburgh / Peebles. Follow Edinburgh city centre signs. ( Don't go towards Peebles) Drive along this road for 2.7 miles going through 4 sets of traffic lights to Liberton Brae then continue straight on (Don't take the left fork). After two more sets of traffic lights you will be in Craigmillar Park which leads into Mayfield Gardens. At the traffic lights (not Pedestrian lights) in Mayfield Gardens turn right, you are now in East Mayfield. SONAS is on the right.
Coming from the M6 and A74
These roads lead to the A702. >From this join the A720 by-pass going south. Leave this at the next junction A701 Peebles /Edinburgh turnoff.
Follow instructions as above.
