Fort Augustus is a small village at the southern end of Loch Ness on the Caledonian Canal. The Caledonian Canal, connecting Corpach near Fort William with Clachnaharry in Inverness, was completed in 1822. It is over 60 miles long, but more than two thirds of its length consists of three connected lochs - Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy.

From Fort Augustus TIC turn right on A82 over river bridge, canal bridge,
along main road up hill past hotel, and Cart Ref is next two storey house
on right before the police station.
Getting There by Railway
From Inverness cross the river Ness following the signs for Fort William
(A82). Fort Augustus is halfway at 33 miles along Loch Ness.
Getting there by Aeroplane
From Inverness Airport turn due west, 8 miles to Inverness, take the A82
along Loch Ness for 33 miles.
