The Victorian Town House Bed and Breakfast is owned and run by Aileen Reeves.

It is situated in the historic West End of Edinburgh, now designated a World Heritage Site.

Victorian Townhouse Accommodation

Rooms:
The property is situated on two floors with the guest rooms situated in the garden flat which has its own private entrance. Guests are provided with a key to enable the flexibility to come and go as they wish.

There are three comfortable rooms all with en-suite facilities, a comfortable sofa, Colour television with Digital box. All rooms are decorated to the highest standard.

Other facilities include; Radio alarm clock; hairdryer and hospitality tray with a selection of Teas, Coffee, Hot chocolate drinks and chocolate biscuits.
A complimentary drink and chocolates are offered for a stay of 2nights or more. Free Wifi is available.

The en-suite shower rooms are very spacious and finished to a high standard. Complimentary toiletries are provided.
Whilst we do our best to give guests a choice of rooms this cannot be guaranteed.

The Caledonian room:
The Caledonian room has a scottish theme with tartan, pictures of Edinburgh and Scotland in a traditional style. The king size bed with white cotton bedding, throws and cushions give the room a very comfortable ambiance.
The en suite is extremely spacious with a large shower, toilet and wash hand basin.

The Colonial Room:
The Colonial Room with its wooden floor, sofa, pictures and map of Africa is a room full of character. It has a king size bed and a single bed with white cotton bedding with African themed throws and cushions.
The en suite continues the african theme with a shower, toilet and wash hand basin.

The Dunedin Room:
The Dunedin room named for the old name for Edinburgh is a charming room and has a delightful seating area. It has a double bed and a single bed with white cotton linen, throws and cushions to add to the ambiance.
The ensuite has a shower, wash hand basin and toilet.

The Victorian property is located in a beautiful crescent within walking distance of Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, The Edinburgh International Conference Centre and the Theatres and Galleries of this most wonderful of Capital Cities.

Our Location:
The Victorian Townhouse is in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town. Places within easy walking distance includes the shops and Gardens of Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, The National Gallery of Scotland, The Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Murrayfield Stadium and The Royal Botanical Gardens.

Waverley Railway Station is a short taxi ride to the house and Haymarket Station is located a few minutes walk from the house. Both provide excellent travel links to the rest of the country. In addition, Edinburgh International Airport is only a 20 minute drive and easily accessible by taxi or bus.

History:
Built in the 1870’s, Eglinton Crescent forms part of the Western New Town in the elegant and historic West End of Edinburgh.
This wonderful crescent with it’s grand architecture overlooks beautifully maintained tree lined private gardens. With the spires of St Mary’s Cathedral as a backdrop is The Victorian Town House.

The property was once the home of David Alan Stevenson one of the famous family of lighthouse engineers and the cousin of the author Robert Louis Stevenson. David’s daughter, the renowned authoress Dorothy Emily Stevenson was born in the house. Her grandfather was Lord Roberts of Kandahar V.C. a close friend of Rudyard Kipling.
