Things to do:
Edinburgh is home to the Edinburgh Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe, these events bring together a massive variety of acts and are renowned through the world!

The Festival brings together arts and music from all over the world. It usually takes place mid-August to mid-September but changes slightly every year so check their website for up to date information!

The Fringe brings you cutting edge comedy and entertainment from the biggest names to up and coming talent. Many performers take to the streets performing to whoever is there and taking in other people's shows! Taking place in August, Edinburgh becomes filled with well known names as the Fringe is used to try out new acts by numerous comic and entertainment celebrities.

During the Festival and Fringe the city becomes filled with hundreds of events ranging from art exhibitions, live street performers, magic and classical, jazz and blues music performances to the spectacle that is the Military Tattoo!

The Tattoo celebrates over 50 years of music and history set against the stunning backdrop of the Castle. It has to be seen to be believed but for a taster check out their website and click "Tattoo Experience" for 360 degree views of this unique event

For walkers Edinburgh has lots to offer, the number of landmarks in the city mean it's virtually impossible to get totally lost!
There are several tours and walks available from the city centre most operating on a "turn up and come along" system!
The city has a mix of historical and contemporary buildings, areas of natural beauty such as Arthur's Seat which offer breathtaking views over the city (for those who don't mind a little climb!),the Water of Leith is a local favourite as recent development means you can now walk or cycle most of the way along it offering shortcuts to conventional street routes.

The nearby Firth of Forth is home to the Forth Road and Rail Bridges, the rail bridge was opened in 1890 but still carries trains across the Forth today.
From the historical fishing village of South Queensferry you can also take boat trips to nearby islands and check out the local sea life including puffins and seals!

As you'd imagine of a city like Edinburgh there's something for everyone as far as shopping and eating out are concerned as well!

For the shop-a-holics among you Edinburgh is home to the usual selection of high street stores mixed in with some less common ones such as Scotland's oldest department store, Jenners, well known names such as House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols.
The main shopping area within the town centre is Princes Street, a historic street with views of the castle and alongside it Princes Street Gardens, public gardens which date back to 1876 and are home to the famous Floral Clock!

The view along Princes Street Gardens - a stone's throw away from the city centre -if you can believe it!

For those who prefer one-stop shopping we are also located 5 minutes drive from the Gyle Shopping Centre. Ingleneuk is near to several other centres including Ocean Terminal in Leith, where you can visit and tour the Royal Yacht Brittania which had served the Royal Family for over forty years before retiring having travelled over one million miles!

For food fans Edinburgh is host to a mix of places to eat-in and takeaway covering all tastes! There's too many to mention and Locallife lists just a sample of them, for food shops click here and for eating out click here. To mention just a few.

The Hard Rock Cafe has a home in Edinburgh serving all their favourites and open till late!

Also recommended are MacKenzie's Restaurant and the magical and unique Witchery which has to be experienced to be believed!
