Dunoon hotel Stronchullin self-catering holiday cottages have fabulous views of sea lochs and hills in a Highland landscape.

The area is the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, which is little known as one of the most scenic and unspoiled areas of Europe. Yet it is very easy to get here, little more than an hours drive from Glasgow.

Cowal's main town, Dunoon, is nearby providing every facility you could need while on holiday. The cottages have direct access to many acres of forest, hill and beaches, ideal for walks and picnics. Stronchullin is within Argyll Forest Park and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park . Holy Loch Marina and the famous Benmore Gardens are nearby.

Stronchullin Holiday Cottages Accommodation

Stronchullin self catering holiday cottages have a spectacular south facing setting overlooking Loch Long and the magnificent Firth of Clyde on the Cowal Peninsula. Inside, the cottages are spacious, comfortable and cosy with every modern facility and magnificent views from every window.

The living areas of the holiday cottages are newly refurbished with solid oak floors, wood-burning stoves and new suites. Outside we have provided new deck areas where you can relax and soak in the Argyll scenery and enjoy alfresco drinks and dining or enjoy a barbecue in the gardens.

The holiday cottages have an idyllic, secluded setting yet have all the amenities of Dunoon available just a few miles away. All holiday cottages have three bedrooms, an open plan sitting and dining area, well-fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and a shower room.

The cottages are well equipped with every convenience and central heating throughout. A cot and high chair can be provided.

Alder Cottage
Alder Cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is an open plan sitting room and dining room with open pine beams, oak flooring and a wood burning stove. The well appointed kitchen has a breakfast bar.

Birch Cottage sleeps seven people in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a spacious open plan sitting room and dining area with oak flooring and a wood burning stove. From the lounge there is a patio door leading out to large decking and garden.

Attractions and Activities
Our self-catering holiday cottages are located in the Cowal Peninsula, one of the most unspoiled and beautiful natural environments in Europe, rich in history, culture and wildlife. It feels like another world, and yet it is only an hour from Glasgow.

The Cowal Peninsula is a delightful part of Scotland bordered on three sides by sea lochs and to the north by the Arrochar Alps. It has its own unique landscape and history and an unspoiled natural environment.

A stay in Stronchullin Cottages is an ideal escape from the outside world with many activities to choose from for a perfect holiday and with the town of Dunoon with a further selection of facilities only a few miles away.

Stronchullin Cottages are an ideal base from which to explore the whole of Argyll, with Oban in the far north less than two hours by car and the Island of Bute easily accessible from the ferry at Colintraive.

Inveraray, only an hour away, is a great day out via one of the most scenic drives in Scotland along Loch Eck and the opportunity to visit several attractions at the tip of Loch Fyne. To the east, Loch Lomond is less than an hour by car.

Amazing Wildlife
The natural environment of Cowal is superb, it is beautiful to simply soak in but it is also the place to find wildlife in plenty, from red squirrels and red deer in the woods to porpoises, dolphins and basking sharks in the lochs. Bird life is everywhere because of the wide range of different habitats.

Needless to say Cowal is hugely inspirational to creative artists and craftspeople and there is a lively arts scene with many artists choosing to locate here.

Outdoor activity is easily found, from sailing & kayaking on the sheltered waters to cycling and walking in the woods. Golf, horse riding, fishing and are all available. Cowal is also the place for adventure sports including gorge walking , mountain biking, rock climbing and abseiling as well as quad biking, archery, clay shooting.

For anyone who is passionate about food, Cowal offers the best of fresh, local produce, from the seafood caught daily, to the local organic beef, poultry, game, lamb and free range eggs. Buy it and cook it yourself or have a great night out in a choice of restaurants.

But if you decide a takeaway is just what you need, there is a great choice there too, especially the local fish and chips!

DIRECTIONS
From Glasgow, follow the M8 for Greenock, then the A8 for Gourock. Take the A770 for Western Ferries, 2 miles beyond Gourock. This is where your holiday begins! Enjoy the 20 minute ferry trip and the fabulous scenery to arrive at Hunters Quay and Cowal.

Once off the ferry, turn right onto the A815 for 2 miles. Turn right at a T-junction for the A815; after 3 miles turn right for the A880 taking you to Kilmun, Strone and Blairmore (5 miles).

A 1/4 mile past Gairletter Caravan Park watch out for the signpost for Stronchullin Holiday Cottages on the left.

Alternatively; from Glasgow, follow the M8 for Greenock. Take junction 30 for the Erskine Bridge and then the M898. Take the A82 for Crianlarich. At Tarbet, follow the A83, signposted for Campbeltown and turn left for the A815 for Dunoon.

Turn left for A880 Ardentinny at Whistlefield and watch for the signpost for Stronchullin Holiday Cottages on right.(2 miles).
