Inveraray Jail

Cruise on the River Clyde
The Paddle Steamer Waverley is the Last Sea going paddle steamer in the world. She sails on the Clyde during the summer months. At other times Clyde Marine Cruising provides the ideal vessel for a sail.

DIRECTIONS
There is a railway station at Gourock with direct passenger link for the twenty-minute ferry crossing to Dunoon.

Two car ferry services operate, one from Gourock Pier and one from the southern outskirts of Gourock at McInroy's Point. There are frequent crossings and no advance booking is necessary, although car with passenger tickets may be purchased from the Esplanade when making a hotel reservation.

As Dunoon is on the mainland, car owners may prefer to take the High road from Glasgow via loch Lomond and Rest and be Thankful.

Directions to the Ferry:
· M74 from the South and M8 from the East
· Follow signs for Glasgow M8 and Greenock M8
· Then A8 through Port Glasgow, Greenock to Gourock
· On arrival in Dunoon at Western Ferries turn left out of the ferry terminal to the centre of Dunoon and the main Pier. Continue past the pier and the Rock Cafe, up the hill and first left. Turn left at the foot of the avenue and you will find Esplanade Hotel and it's car park.

Getting there from the Information Centre:
From Dunoon Tourist Information Centre, head towards and pass the main pier , follow the road past McColls Hotel, turn 1st left down Park Avenue. Esplanade is at the foot of the avenue.

Getting There by Railway:
From Glasgow Central. Take the train to Gourock and the Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry to Dunoon. Taxis are available at Dunoon Pierhead to Esplanade Hotel.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Glasgow Airport. Bus to Gourock and Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry to Dunoon. Taxi to Paisley Gilmour Street Station, train to Gourock and Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry to Dunoon.

Car M8 to Greenockand Gourock, 2 miles south of Gourock take the Western Ferry to Dunoon, discounted tickets are available from the Esplande Hotel, there is frequent crossings and no advanced booking is necessary.

Getting There by Ferry:
From Dunoon Pier, by foot turn left, walk along the traffic promenade, passing the Rock Cafe and the Yachtsman, The Esplanade is a further 100 yards from the Yachtsman. From Western Ferry Terminal turn left into Dunoon, 2 miles, pass the main pier, pass McColls Hotel is situated at the foot of the avenue.
