Nestled high amongst established woodland with sensational views over the Firth of Clyde and surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery you will ever see, Abbots Brae has earned for itself an enviable reputation as a luxurious home away from home.

Abbots Brae is a lovely small family-run Hotel situated in its own woodland garden. Eight spacious bedrooms are individually named after places within the stunning Cowal Peninsula, with each room displaying photographs and the history related to the place-name.

For delightful short and weekend breaks – and those special pampered romantic breaks in the west of Scotland the hotel has few equals – the perfect escape too from the City of Glasgow.

Abbots Brae Hotel Accommodation

Our spacious bedrooms are individually named after places within the Cowal Peninsula, with each room displaying photographs and the history related to the place-name.

All the bedrooms feature:

We offer a choice of luxurious four-poster, king-size, double and twin bedrooms with one double bedroom situated on the ground floor. All our rooms are available on a single occupancy basis.

For the comfort and safety of all our guests, smoking is not permitted in the bedrooms or the hotel. There is a covered smoking area at the front of the hotel.

Wireless broadband internet access is available free of charge in all bedrooms and public areas.

Dining in Scotland
Wherever possible we try and source our ingredients from the best local suppliers.

Our shellfish comes from the West Coast if possible and Loch Fyne in particular. Our Beef is Scottish born, raised and slaughtered and hung for 21 days to give extra flavour and tenderness. Our bread is homemade and all dishes are made daily.

Wherever possible we change our menu each day. We also cater for special diets – all we need is some notice. If you have special requests we will be happy to discuss them with you, just let us know when booking!

The Dining Room
In the dining room, which enjoys impressive open views over the garden and the Firth of Clyde, we offer the best of Scottish ingredients prepared in traditional ways. In the evening our Eat Scotland accredited three course dinner menu offers a selection of dishes which vary daily.

As we cater mainly for our residents we are able to provide personal and attentive service in a convivial atmosphere. A fully stocked bar and an imaginative wine list is available to compliment your dinner.

Intimate Wedding Ceremonies
Abbots Brae is the perfect setting for intimate weddings in Scotland. The perfect setting for small, intimate weddings, whether it is for a House Party. Wedding catering for parties up to 24 or just for 2!

The ceremony can take place within the hotel and gardens or at the historic, picturesque Castle House, Dunoon’s Registry Office, situated on the hill overlooking the Victorian Pier and located only one mile away.

We can put you in touch with the local Minister or the Registrar to make the necessary arrangements and we can help in all aspects of the wedding preparations including photography, beautician, formal wear hire, cakes and flowers to ensure that, on the day, everything runs smoothly.

Benmore Botanical Gardens; Benmore, Dunoon, Argyll In a magnificent mountainside setting on the Cowal Peninsula lies Benmore, an enchanting Garden steeped in history and surrounded by dramatic scenery. Benmore’s 120 acres boast over 300 species of rhododendron; Bhutanese and Chilean plantings and a spectacular avenue of Giant Redwoods.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From Dunoon tourist information centre, head south towards Dunoon pier. The hotel is located 1.5 miles away on the coastal A815 road.

Getting There by Railway:
From Gourock station on Gourock pier, take a ferry to Dunoon, 1 every hour. The hotel is 1 mile from Dunoon pier on the coastal road, A815 heading towards Innellan.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Glasgow airport only 1 hour. Take M8 and follow signs for Greenock and Gourock. From Gourock, take the ferry, choice of 2 to Dunoon. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Dunoon.

Getting There by Ferry:
From Dunoon ferry terminals. The hotel is located only 1 mile from Dunoon pier or 3 miles from Hunters Quay terminal. From either ferry terminal, turn left and follow the coastal road towards Innellan. The hotel sign can be seen at the end of the drive.
