Drumnadrochit hotelLochletter Lodges is a small park in a rural environment, with 4 high quality lodges, all with privacy, surrounded by hills, woodland and fields. There is a loch (Loch Meiklie) within a 5 minute walk.

There is one lodge wheelchair accessible, suitable for disabled people
The park is lying in the middle of Glen Urquhart, which stretches from Loch Ness to Glen Affric.

Lochletter Accommodation

There is one 2 bedroom lodge (a double and a twin), with a extra large living/kitchen area, which also can be used by disabled people. The bathroom doesn’t have a bath, only a shower.
There are three 3 bedrooms lodges (a double, a twin and a bunkbed), living/kitchen area and a bathroom with a bath/shower.
All lodges are well equipped incl. tv, dvd, washing machine, microwave & fridge.
Free Wifi available in all lodges
By each lodge there is parking space for 2 cars.

All lodges are on one level, with unobstructed access from outside. Door widths are 900mm in all lodges. Glomach Lodge with its larger bedrooms and sitting/dining area has ample space for anyone dependant on a wheelchair. The shower has a dish floor. A shower chair, manual hoist and other equipment are available on request, at no extra cost.

All of the lodge kitchens are well equipped with electric cookers, microwave ovens, fridges and washing machines - with on site access to a tumble drier. There is a TV and DVD in every lodge. Free wireless internet is available. There is 1 Wii console with games, which can be hired
Lighting and basic heating is included in the price. There are electricity meters in all the lodges, for the shower and additional heating. Bed linen, a bath towel per person, hand & tea towels are included. Cots and high chairs can be provided free of charge. Two cars can be parked immediately adjacent to your lodge.

Divach, Guisachan & Plodda (3 bedroom lodges) have one double bedroom with a double bed, one twin bedded room and bunk room with adult sized beds. The bathrooms have a bath, over-bath shower, hand basin and toilet.
Glomach (2 bedroom lodge with disabled facilities) has one double bedroom and a twin bedroom. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and toilet.

Our lodges can be found in beautiful Glenurquhart, which stretches from Loch Ness to Glen Affric. Drumnadrochit is a quiet village, which is only a 10 minute drive, where there are shops and restaurants. Inverness city is about half an hours drive and has a excellent shopping centre, cinemas, swimming pool and other recreational facilities. There is a new theatre complex which was completed in 2007.

We are situated near a smallholding that has sheep and hens and are carefully located in a mature birchwood with no through traffic.

There are 4 high quality wooden lodges, which are built in such a way that each outlook has its own view. They are accessed via a private road which crosses the River Enrick as it leaves Loch Meiklie, a wee loch close to the lodges.
Dogs are welcome, max. 2 per lodge. Nearby are forestry woods, which have tracks that are ideal for walking and cycling. There is a track that leads from the lodges to the forest.

Not only can you come for the peace and tranquilty in the immediate area, but there are many famous places to visit. Urquhart Castle, the famous and popular castle situated on the shores of Loch Ness. Whilst in Drumnadrochit there are boat trips on the infamous loch and the 'Nessie' Monster exhibition centres.

Glen Affric, which is said to be the most beautiful in Scotland, is renowned for its scenery and old Caledonian Forest Reserve. It is also a National Scenic Area and has recently been chosen as a National Nature Reserve. This is ideal for walkers and families, as there are short way marked walks and longer day walks with spectacular scenery and waterfalls.

4 miles from the park lays Drumnadrochit, a touristic village, with shops and restaurants. There is also the Urquhart Castle, a Tourist Information Centre, and the Loch Ness visitor centre.

Boot trips can be made over Loch Ness.
Inverness and Fort Augustus are within a 30 min. drive

Day trips to Cairngorms, Fort William, Isle of Skye are approx an 1,5 hour drive
There are a lot of walking and cycling routes at the rear of the park, which are also suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

Activities:
Walking/Mountain Biking

There are Forestry Commission tracks in the immediate vicinity of the lodges. Spectacular hill-walking is available throughout the Highlands with the most locally accessible being Glen Affric, Glen Cannich and Strathfarrar. Books and maps are available on site, and for the more adventurous I am a keen walker and would be happy to share my knowledge of the local area. There is also a lock-up for bikes.

Golf
There are a number of local golf clubs within a short distance of the lodges. The most immediate are Inverness, Muir of Ord and Aigas. Click here for a list of clubs.

Horse Riding
There are riding stables offering pony/horse trekking at Borlum Farm in Drumnadrochit and also at Tomich.

Fishing
Local fishing is available in Loch Meiklie which is full of pike, whilst trout fishing is available slightly further afield. There is a book on site which gives all contact details.

Swimming
Swimming is available in Inverness at the Leisure Centre/Aquadome or in Tomich at the Tomich Hotel.

Directions to Lochletter:
By Car:

From Inverness to Fort William, take the A82 to Drumnadrochit.
From Fort William to Inverness, take the A82 to Drumnadrochit.
From Drumnadrochit, take the A831 signposted to Cannich, before the bridge if you are coming from Inverness or after the bridge if you are coming from Fort William. Continue on until you reach Balnain (about 4 miles). After approx. 1/4 mile and several sharp bends, turn left down the small lane signposted to Lochletter Lodges and Balnain Community Hall. Continue on over the bridge until you reach a left turn into farm buildings and follow sign to reception.
By Train:
The nearest train station is in Inverness with regular national daily services and a sleeper service from London.
Car hire is available in Inverness.
By Plane:
Inverness airport is a good hours drive away with regular daily flights from all the major airports within the UK and also airports within the Highlands and Islands.
Car hire is available at the airport.
