The Area:
Achmony Lodges are situated above the village of Drumnadrochit, on the shores of legendary Loch Ness. The area is world famous for its beauty and Loch Ness for its unsolved mystery, the Monster!

The private road, solely for the use of visitors to Achmony Lodges turns off the A831 Drumnadrochit/Cannich road and winds uphill. Each lodge is individually sited in over 70 acres of private and secluded birch-studded hillside overlooking Loch Ness.

Drumnadrochit has won awards for its stunning floral displays, including the famous miniature floral castle on the village green.

The village has a range of shops and quality restaurants, some of which offer a free taxi service to and from their establishments.

As well as a small food market, pharmacy, bakery and hairdresser there is a post office, a bank with ATM and various Loch Ness exhibitions. Urquhart Castle, perched on the banks of Loch Ness, is nearby and features a new and popular visitor centre.

There is pony-trekking, fishing and interesting local walks on your doorstep - walks range from leisurely strolls to over 30 Munros. From Drumnadrochit you may enjoy boat trips on Loch Ness or hire a mountain bike and explore the stunning Highland landscape on two wheels.

Achmony is the perfect base for touring: Inverness, capital of the Highlands, is 14 miles away. The city is vibrant while still retaining its old world charm.

Attractions include the Castle, Museum, Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre. There is also a modern Aquadome with sports and leisure facilities.

Glen Affric - now designated a National Nature Reserve - is a haven for wildlife with picturesque lochs and majestic mountains. Here you can see some of the oldest Caledonian pine trees in Scotland. An hour's drive away in Aviemore you can experience Scotland's only mountain railway and travel up Cairngorm Mountain enjoying a snack or meal at the top in the highest restaurant in the UK.

The magic, mystery and legend of Loch Ness and its famous monster have captured the imagination of generations, but Loch Ness is much more than a fabled monster sheltering in the shadow of Urquhart Castle.

Loch Ness has stunning scenery with magnificent mountains towering over glorious glens, offering inner peace and stimulating a sense of discovery where a rich heritage comes alive the landscape will inspire you.

The Loch is surrounded by thriving village communities, offering a warm highland welcome to visitors. The pretty village of Drumnadrochit has a rich history and a range of top class visitor facilities including fun and interactive exhibitions on the loch and the Urquhart Castle visitors centre.
