Sandyhills facilities
Sandyhills Bay is situated on a beautiful beach with sheltered sandy coves, it hosts a licenced shop and children's play area. You will never get bored at Sandyhills, there is so much to see and do, both on the Park and in the surrounding area.

Next to the park is the 18 hole Colvend Golf Course and within a few minutes walk is the Barend Horse-riding centre.

Park Facilities
Although small, there are ample facilities at Sandyhills Bay itself. The well stocked licensed shop keeps a host of souvenirs, sweets and provisions to tempt you.

The beach itself is one of the best in the area and is accessible directly from the Park. You could picnic in one of the sheltered coves or take a stroll along the headland, whatever you decide you cannot help but enjoy the beautiful countryside and beach at Sandyhills Bay.

A play area with swings and slide are on the Park to keep the children busy when not on the beach building sand castles.

The well kept toilet block and laundry are nearby for getting everything clean including wash-up areas for your pots and pans.

So, if you want accommodation or to bring your own tourer or tent, Sandyhills Bay is the ideal place if you like the combination of sea, countryside and a warm welcome.

Attractions
Sandyhills Bay Leisure Park is perfectly located to explore the region. Not far away is the town of Dalbeattie with quaint little shops, hotels, takeaway's and a cafe, plus a play park to keep the children entertained. Take a trip down to Kippford on the way and watch the boats, have lunch or walk over to Rockcliffe.

The food town of Castle Douglas is well worth a visit with specialist shops, cafe's, pubs and restaurant's or take a trip to the shopping centre of Dumfries which is within 30 minutes drive.

The BHS approved Barend Riding Centre is a few minutes walk away and offers a range of riding activities for all the family.

The children would love to visit nearby Mabie Farm Park where there are lots of activities, even an indoor playbarn for the less sunny days. Animals to feed and you could even have something to eat yourself in the delightful little tea room. There are picnic areas and also a farm shop.

There are gardens to visit, museums, castles, craft shops, potteries just to name a few and at nearby New Abbey there is an interesting museum of costume and a magnificent Cistercian Abbey dating back to the late C13th early C14th.

For the more energetic there are many walks to be found, acres of coastline, hills, beaches forest and lochs. The National cycle route network traverses the area and for the expert rider there are 5 of the 7 stanes mountain bike courses in the area.

DIRECTIONS
Getting There by Car:

The main A75 Euroroute runs straight through the region from Gretna to Stranraer. It is easily accessible from the M74 from the North and the M6 from the South.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
Both Glasgow and Prestwick airports are within easy reach of Dumfries and Galloway.

Getting There by Ferry:
The local ferry Ports at Stranraer and Cairnryan are within driving distance of the Parks. With direct links to Northern Ireland they are convenient for travelling visitors and for day trippers.
