Dalbeattie hotelCastle Point Caravan Site is a small coastal site near Rockcliffe village in Galloway. It is in a National Scenic Area and has consistently received a 4 star rating (excellent) from the Scottish Tourist Board.

We are a quiet family park. Rockcliffe and Castle Point beaches are a short walk away. The site is an ideal base from which one can set out on foot to explore the magnificent and tranquil scenery that this part of the Solway Firth coast has to offer.

Castle Point Caravan Site Accommodation

All vans have verandahs with superb views plus deck chairs and an outside table. Rentals are on weekly basis. Children under 5 stay free. Four adults can be accommodated in a van comfortably (1 double bed + 2 singles). There is another double bed that can be made up in the living are.

There is a 10% discount for second and subsequent week bookings plus a discount for those over 62 years at certain times of the year. Booking is advisable in high season.

Caravans are available from 2.30 p.m. on the day of hire and should be vacated by 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

The vans are of top quality and fully fitted with microwave, television (HDMI connection), DVD player, fridge, gas cooker, hot water, shower and toilet. Bedding is supplied EXCEPT for sheets and pillow cases.

They are double glazed and insulated. Some have central heating. All have verandahs that allow one to admire the view from an elevated position.

The site
The site is attractive and well maintained. A WI-FI hot spot is available. The hirevans are top quality and fully fitted. Pets are accepted in some caravans.

Activities nearby
Beaches
Attractive beaches at Castle Point, Rockcliffe and Glenstocken Cove are within easy walking distance. Rockcliffe is particularly suitable for smaller children.

Walks
There are several lovely walks – over the cliffs along the coastal path to Port O’Warren and Sandyhills, or along the Merse to Rockcliffe, up the Mote of Mark Hill to an iron age fort, along the Jubilee path to Kippford, perhaps with a diversion up to the Muckle Knowe, plus several forest walks and, when the tide is out, over to Rough Island (in the Spring this is a bird sanctuary).

The NTS (National Trust for Scotland) own a considerable acreage in area including much of the land between Rockcliffe and Kippford. They organise nature walks in the area. The NTS also own and run the excellent Threave Gardens just outside Castle Douglas.

There are cycle tracks in the forestry e.g. 7 stanes mountain biking trails.

The Solway Yacht Club is located in the neighbouring scenic village of Kippford.

Covend Golf Course is an attractive 18 hole course located at Sandyhills, about 2 miles away.

Historic Scotland
They have many fascinating sites in the immediate area. Threave Castle located on an island in the River Dee, Sweetheart Abbey in scenic New Abbey, Dundrennan Abbey a few miles from Kirkcudbright, Maclellan Castle in Kirkcudbright, and Caerlaverock Castle a few miles south of Dumfries.

DIRECTIONS
From Dalbeattie take the A710 coastal road. After 5 miles turn right along the signposted road to Rockcliffe. Just after the the brow of the hill just after entering Rockcliffe, turn left down to the end of Barcloy Road.

The site is signposted. Continue straight ahead up the private farm road until you arrive at the site (200 yards).
