Crail hotelCrail House was built in 1871 and the architect being the renowned Frederick Thomas Pilkington (1832-1898) and a two-storey wing was added in 1937.

The house was converted into self-contained flats in 1971. In the twelfth century there stood on the site a royal castle only a small part of which remains.

The house is still referred to locally as “the castle”and the nearby street names reflect its history. It stands in impressive grounds extending to more than an acre in an elevated position overlooking the sea, the May Island, and the picturesque harbor of Crail.

Two of the flats (nos 2 and 4) are almost identical in layout each consisting of an L-shaped sitting room/dining room, a double bedroom, a twin bedded room, kitchen, bathroom and hall. Flat 4has an additional shower room. The maximum occupancy is four persons. They are in the 1937 wing and flat 4 is above flat 2. Flat no 3 is the upper floor of the original house. It is very spacious and will accommodate six.

The accommodation comprises 2 double rooms, a twin bedded room and a very small single bedroom entered from the sitting room.
