Castle Douglas hotelUrr Lodge is located on the B794 1 mile south of the village of Haugh of Urr and 2 miles off the A75 Gretna to Stranraer Euroroute. We are located in the heart of Galloway 4 miles from Castle Douglas, 2 from Dalbeattie and 15 from Dumfries.

Urr Lodge Hostel Accommodation

We offer budget, no-fuss, comfortable accommodation with all the necessities for a great stay.

Private Twin Rooms:
Restful private twin rooms with spacious wardrobe and en suite toilet/washbasin facility, all linen provided.

Family Room:
Our private family room, sleeping up to 4, consists of twin beds and a pair of bunks. Spacious wardrobe, En suite toilet and washbasin facility and all fresh linen provided.

Shared Rooms (dorms):
Comfortable large rooms each sleeping up to 6 in a bunk bed set up, with en suite toilet/washbasin, and one with a shower also. The dorms are mixed, but if required we can segregate females where possible. Can be rented as whole rooms if desired. All linen provided.

Disabled Room:
Single bunk beds in comfortable room with large wardrobe and en suite toilet and shower facility. All fresh linen is provided.

3 showers are available for those who do not have the en suite shower facility in room, towels are available to hire.

Sun Room/Conservatory:
Situated at front of the Lodge for morning sun, ideal for a bit of quiet time while enjoying the surroundings

Dining Room:
A separate space for dining, ideal for a mealtime mingle.

TV Lounge/Livingroom:
Relaxing guest lounge with working open fireplace, comfy couches and seating, TV,DVD and CD player, ideal for relaxing after an active day.

Kitchen:
Self Catering
Fully equipped kitchen with electric hob/oven, 2 x microwaves, kettle, toasters, coffee maker, all utensils provided. Tea and Coffee freely available at all times. (See Facilities for other dining options).

Drying room and Laundry:
A drying room is available for drying off clothes after a wet day out! Additionally, a laundry service is available for a small charge.

For your culinary needs, there is a wide variety of pubs, restaurants cafes and take-aways within a 4 mile radius of Urr Lodge. Notably, The Laurie Arms in the village excels in its provision of restaurant and bar meals, take-away meals and REAL ale.

For groceries, there is a Tesco store in Castle Douglas and other stores in Dalbeattie.

Self catering holiday cottage (Herriesdale Cottage)
Accommodates up to 8 people. There are 2 large living rooms, dining room (with sofa-bed), kitchen, Double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and 2 twin bedrooms upstairs. Garden area and car parking.

Formerly the coach house of the adjoining owner's Victorian house, the cottage shares a lovely country location with the house and adjoining hostel for outdoor pursuits.

Herriesdale Cottage is situated in the Urr Valley, about a mile south of the village of Haugh of Urr, 3km north of Dalbeattie and 6.5 km from Castle Douglas, designated 'The Food Town'.

Across the river from the property, lies the Motte of Urr - a former motte and bailey castle, the remaining earthworks of which are the largest of its kind in Europe.

Attractions and Activities
The local climate is temperate; warmed and enhanced by the Gulf Stream.

This is a central location for 7 Stanes mountain biking enthusiasts - being in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway - only 3 miles from Dalbeattie Forest and 10 from Mabie Forest. Easy access by road to Kirroughtree and Ae.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From TIC in Castle Douglas travel East on A75 for 3 miles, turn right onto B794 to Haugh Of Urr. Urr Lodge is 1 mile further south towards Dalbeattie.

Getting There by Car:
From A75, 3 miles East of Castle Douglas, 15 miles West of Dumfries turn South onto the B794 to the Haugh of Urr, continue through village to Dalbeattie and Urr Lodge is less than a mile on the left.

Getting There by Railway:
Nearest stations are at Dumfries and Lockerbie.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
Nearest Airport is Prestwick Airport, situated approximately 80 miles away.

Getting There by Ferry:
60 miles from Irish Crossings at Stranraer
