Hazel Cottage Accommodation

The accommodation comprises: double bedroom with vanity unit and 1 twin bedroom, shower. Kitchen with auto washing machine, fridge, microwave, sitting/dining room with colour television and wood/coal burning stove
providing central heating and large enclosed garden area.

The cottage is available from 3pm on the day of arrival to 10am on the day of departure. One bag of coal supplied (extra can be bought from farm on request). Electricity charged by meter reading. Bed linen provided.

Activities and Attractions
Quite Country roads ensure pleasant driving to places of scenic and historic interest, including Threave National Trust Gardens (about 10 miles), and the busy market town of Castle Douglas (9 miles).

The county town of Kirkcudbright, a fishing port and renowned artist's colony is 12 miles to the west. Dumfries, the largest town in the area, with its wide range of shops, ice skating,ice hockey, indoor carpet bowls, cinema and Robert Burns Centre, House and Mausoleum, is 23 miles away.

There are attractive sandy beaches, picturesque coastal resorts, castles, abbeys and historic towns and villages stretching from Sandyhills, Rockcliffe and Kippford in the east to Isle of Whithorn, Portpatrick and the Mull of Galloway in the south west.

Not to be missed is the grandeur of Upland Galloway, culminating in Glen Trool, The Bruce's Stone, and Southern Scotland's highest peak, Merrick (2762ft).

Lying only 500 meters from the sea, the cottage forms an ideal base for walking with local costal, hill and forest walks of a varying length. Locally, bird watching, fishing and golfing are popular pursuits.

Auchencairn village is 2 miles away, and has a post office, garage and Old Smugglers Inn with good food and bar. The surrounding towns offer a range of shops, hotels and restaurants catering for a wide variety of tastes and pockets.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From Castle Douglas tourist information centre take the B736 and then the A711 to Auchencairn, follow the A711 through Auchencairn and after 0.5 miles take the 1st left at the signpost for Rascarrel,follow the road for 1.5 miles until you come to Rascarrel Farm.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, Rascarrel Farm is approximately 100 miles.
