Castle Douglas hotelMagnificently recently converted Mill in a beautiful rural location, within a converted farm steading.

The mill is set within its own private gardens, the burn located at the bottom of the garden creates a peaceful haven for guests to enjoy, whilst sitting in the garden, or in the upper level lounge with the huge French doors opened, taking advantage of the beautiful view of the hills beyond.

We are a family run business and you can be assured of a warm welcome, a map of the area and a welcome pack is provided. The welcome pack suggests some of the most fantastic places to visit and will surely enhance your stay.

Burnbrae Mill Accommodation

Special care has been taken to offer an experience of luxury, high quality appliances, beds, clean and fully equipped bathrooms, bespoke blinds and curtains, Egyptian cotton bedding together with a wood burning stove within the lounge creates a cosy and peaceful ambience expected of a country retreat.

Burnbrae Mill provides quality accommodation for six adults. The mill is a split level building, access to each level can be gained from the adjacent ground level, the upper level provides a Lounge with huge French doors over looking the hill known as Criffel, together with a beautiful cosy log burning stove, also on this level is a shower room, with combi thermostatically controlled powerful shower.

A TV, DVD, Video recorder, Midi stereo system is provided within the lounge also a selection of board games.

It has a large kitchen fitted with high quality appliances and equipped to a high standard, the open plan dinning area, allows guest to interact whilst meals are being prepared.

The lower level of the mill has, a double bedroom, twin bedroom which have been equipped with high quality divans, offering a high degree of comfort, making sure that your stay is perfect, the 3rd bedroom is fitted with bunk beds, the bunk beds are 3’ wide and are the standard 6’6” long, and can accommodate adults as well as children.

The bathroom, on this level, has a bath with a shower positioned to the end of the bath, the shower is electric, but it is a 9.5 KW version so provides plenty of power.

All curtains and blinds are bespoke, high quality Egyptian cotton sheets and duvets covers are provided and a set of towels per person shall also be provided, at no additional cost.

Burnbrae mill is equipped to a high standard, oil fired central heating and a wood burning stove has been installed, a basket of logs shall be provided at no additional cost, thereafter a bag of logs shall be provided at an additional cost.

Externally there is space for 5 cars to park; the private patio area is equipped with table, six chairs and a sun parasol together with a gas barbeque. Also within the garden is a rotary washing line.

The gardens that surround the mill are for the sole use of the mill, and offer a quiet and peaceful haven for guests to enjoy.

We provide secure storage for bikes.

A complementary tray with coffee, tea, sugar, milk, and a cake shall be provided to welcome you to Burnbrae Mill.

Attractions and Activities
Burnbrae Mill is an excellent base for walking, cycling, fishing, natural history, horse riding, or just relaxing.

Burnbrae mill has a peaceful outlook but is centrally located and is convenient for, Dumfries, Castle Douglas food town with its many specialized shops and Dalbeattie, which is renowned for its mountain bike courses within the Dalbeattie forest. The beautiful Solway coast with its many beautiful beaches is only a 20 minute drive away.

Dumfries and Galloway is steeped in Scottish History and many would say it is the hidden gem of Scotland, with scenery that is diverse and inspiring. Once you have stayed in Dumfries and Galloway you won’t want to go home.

The mill is approximately 2.5 miles from the villages of Lochfoot, Crocketford and Haugh of Urr and 8 miles from Dumfries, Castle Douglas, and Dalbeattie. and a 20 minute drive from the Solway coast and its beautiful beaches.

From Castle Douglas take the A75 towards Dumfries at Crocketford (approximately 8 miles from Castle Douglas) turn right onto C3 past Brandedleys Caravan Park towards Milton, (approximately 2 miles), in Milton turn right onto the C1 travel 500 yards turn first right into Burnbrae Farm.

Getting There by Car:
From Dumfries Take A75 towards Stranraer, Take a left at Brandedleys Caravan park , located at the edge of Crocketford Village which is approximately 8 miles outside Dumfries.

Turn left onto C3 past Brandedleys Caravan Park towards Milton village, (approximately 2 miles), in Milton turn right onto the C1 travel 500 yards turn first right into Burnbrae Farm.

Getting There by Railway:
From Dumfries Railway Station Take A75 towards Stranraer, Take a left at Brandedleys Caravan park , located at the edge of Crocketford Village which is approximately 8 miles outside Dumfries.

From Prestwick Take the A76 to Dumfries.

From Stranraer take the A75 towards Dumfries at Crocketford (approximately 8 miles from Castle Douglas) turn right onto C3 past Brandedleys Caravan Park towards Milton, (approximately 2 miles), in Milton turn right onto the C1 travel 500 yards turn first right into Burnbrae Farm.
