Activities:
Shopping:
Located as we are in a peaceful secluded country location, for essential shopping the obvious choice is the city of Dundee, only 5 miles away, where you can stock up with all the usual day-to-day food, drink, cooking, housekeeping and other requirements very easily as all the main supermarkets and stores are represented there, all with substantial free on-site parking and disabled facilities.

Stop awhile to explore Dundee city centre where shopping in the magnificent glass-fronted Overgate shopping centre must be close to shopping heaven, with a major department store and a wealth of well-known outlets for adult and children's clothing, together with music and specialist shops.

The pedestrianised High Street leads neatly from the Overgate to the Murraygate and Wellgate shopping centres, which have more department stores and retailers to suit all interests. Look out for City Quay, on the Dundee waterfront, where factory outlets aim to guarantee designer labels at low prices.

Throughout the year, shopping in Dundee City centre takes on a European flavour, with Continental Markets in June and December. Stallholders bring their produce from Germany, France and Italy. Ever-popular Farmers' Markets run both in Dundee and around Angus.

However, while you are enjoying a self catering holiday or short break with us, do also try a different dimension in shopping by visiting some of Angus' rural towns like Forfar, Kirriemuir or Arbroath – or get out and about in rural Angus and neighbouring Tayside and explore the work of talented and gifted craftspeople in small craft studios and workshops.

Forbes of Kingennie Lodges have much to offer visitors of all ages, whether looking for pure relaxation or activity-packed holidays in Scotland. We are the ideal touring base, being virtually at the geographical ‘hub’ of Scotland in Angus near Dundee and Tayside, with the most extraordinary variety of wonderful scenery on our doorstep.

Angus is a superb location for fantastic Highland and east coast touring. Breathtaking scenery, majestic mountains not far away, the stunning Angus Glens, imposing castles and an abundance of wildlife will make your stay unforgettable. Perthshire – ‘all of Scotland’ – is less than an hour away.

The area provides a wealth of outdoor activities and leisure facilities, including some of the best walking, golf, fishing, boating and riding anywhere in Scotland – and sensational adventure and water sports.
There are many places of historical and archaeological interest to visit, a wide range of cultural experiences and excellent local cuisine to enjoy. And it’s an ideal base for touring, only 2 hours’ drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen, as well as being just 6 miles outside Dundee.

At many times of the year, Forbes of Kingennie Lodges are available for short let, making our accommodation an outstanding destination base for rewarding self catering short breaks, weekend breaks and leisure breaks in stunning Highland Perthshire.

And for those looking for a leisurely 'time snack’, the area is tailor-made for long, leisurely, easy walks and some great pony trekking – and is an art lover's and photographer's paradise. See, smell, taste and feel the magic of this beautiful unspoilt area.
Picnic by loch sides, or on the hillsides and mountain tops.
We supply excellent picnic and packed lunches.
Enjoy a leisurely game of golf, unhurried and not hassled by the queues and 5 hour rounds characteristic of many golf courses these days. Clear light, pure air and a timeless, almost therapeutic, atmosphere of peace, serenity and tranquillity reign here.

Or simply laze around in the resort for a while, meeting new friends, renewing auld acquaintances or enjoying a good book. Or for heritage lovers, peek back into history and recapture, if only momentarily, the events of the past in a part of Scotland which captivated the historic figures who made Scotland great.

Other great on-site leisure includes our maze, children’s playpark – and our famous Cairngorms Putting Green.
