Lochton House Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

We have 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single room- all en suite. The twin-bedded room would be suitable for a disabled visitor.
Each room has a colour TV and hostess tray.
There are panoramic views from every room.
All accommodation is on the ground floor.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lochton House and making your visit truly memorable.
The bed and breakfast accommodation is double glazed and is in a separate adjoining annexe with its own front door.
The lounge/dining room is next to the annexe and is for the sole use of residents, being quite separate from the family accommodation.

There is ample parking off road and we have a cycle lock up area and a drying room for outdoor clothing. We have facilities for washing fishing gear, gutting and preparing fish too.
The catch can be stored in the fridge/freezer. Your fish might even be cooked for breakfast!

We offer an extensive breakfast menu, including the full Scottish breakfast and a selection of fish.
Packed lunches are available on request.

Lochton House is open all year. We do not serve evening meals, however for a charge we do serve a light supper consisting of homemade soup with garlic/Balmoral bread, a sandwich and tea/coffee. This must be booked 24 hours beforehand.

Activities:
Fishing - The River Dee, being one of the world’s finest rivers for fly fishing is particularly renowned for Spring salmon from February 1st. Not only might you catch a salmon but a sea trout or a sea bass too!

Walking - The Aberdeen and Grampian area has a tremendous variety of walks to suit all abilities. Walking from Lochton House you can enjoy the surrounding hills and woods or by car you can explore a walk further afield.

Cycling - For the mountain and ‘off road biker’ there are numerous trails in the area around Lochton House to follow and enjoy amid the peaceful forest surroundings. Should you need a repair, there is a cycle shop in Banchory (10 minutes away) where the staff would be very happy to help.

Golfing - Scotland is the spiritual home of golf and there are 70 courses in the Aberdeen and Grampian region. Within a 30-40 minute drive of Lochton House visitors can experience 20 of these with several right on the doorstep. So 20 reasons to tee off from Lochton House!!

Sightseeing - Whisky- There are 2 distilleries nearby - Fettercairn near Laurencekirk and Royal Lochnagar, which is the local distillery to Balmoral Castle, the summer home of the Royal Family.

Castles - Crathes and Drum Castles are 10-15 minutes drive away from Lochton House. Craigievar and Castle Fraser are a little further afield. All 4 are National Trust properties. Dunnottar Castle, 1 mile south of Stonehaven is a ruin standing on a crag.

Directions:
From Stonehaven take the A957 to Banchory. Lochton House is just off this road. As you come out of Durris Forest you begin to drop down.
There is a right angled bend as you come into the fields. You pass a house on the right called Darnford Toll and then another house called Quair Cottage.
When you have passed this house Lochton House comes into view.
Turn right down the slip road and you will see a car park on the left opposite the house. You are here!!

From Banchory:
Take the A93 direction Aberdeen out of Banchory. After a couple of miles you pass the entrance to Crathes Castle and then a right turn A957 to Stonehaven (Slug Road).
Turn right down the road and cross the bridge over the River Dee. DO NOT turn left after the bridge. Keep going up the hill. At the top of the hill you pass a Nursery school at Crossroads.
Follow the road down the hill to a narrow stone bridge over a burn.
Cross the bridge, up the hill and take the next left turn signposted Woodlands of Durris/Denside of Durris (approximately 3 miles from the A93/A957 junction at Crathes). Lochton House is just on the left. There is a car park on the right. You are here!!
