Ballater HotelsSituated four miles east of the picturesque Cairngorms National Park, Deeside Village of Ballater, the Cambus 0'May Hotel provides a haven of peace and tranquility, yet affords direct access to the A93 Aberdeen to Perth road.

Set in sixteen acres of attractive wooded grounds the hotel overlooks the River Dee and the hills beyond. The Hotel, which has been owned and run by the McKechnie family for over quarter of a century, provides warm and friendly service with cuisine and comfort to match.

Great emphasis is placed on the personal attention shown to their guests, which allows them to enjoy a memorable and relaxing stay at the Cambus O May Hotel. Originally a Victorian hunting lodge built in 1874 this Country House has been carefully modernised to provide 12 tastefully furnished bedrooms, all different and in keeping with the ambience of the building.

All rooms have en-suite facilities, colour television, hair dryer and individually controlled heating. Hospitality trays are available on request; otherwise they would be delighted to serve early morning tea or coffee in your room. The elegant residents lounge with comfortable seating and open fire overlooks the front gardens and the valley beyond.

It is here that guests may relax, enjoy a chat with friends, perhaps take afternoon tea or finish off their meal with coffee, mints and liqueurs. Their unique pine-clad lounge bar with its log fire is the perfect place for a pre-dinner drink or to just unwind at the end of an eventful day.

The small dining room which has panoramic views across the Dee Valley is the ideal place to enjoy the excellent cuisine offered from the table d'hote menu which changes daily. The menu makes use of the best of local produce and can be complemented by a range of fine wines from the cellar. Special culinary requirements or diets can be catered for if discussed at time of booking and every effort will be taken to satisfy your needs.

The hotel welcomes families, the large grounds offering children scope to explore in safety and their close proximity to the Cambus O'May to Ballater walkway provides a traffic free and attractive environment to cycle or walk to the nearby village of Ballater. Nestling at the foot of Lochnagar, Ballater is enjoyed by many visitors for its excellent range of friendly shops, most of which sport the Royal Warrants of members of the Royal Family.

The area makes an ideal base for enjoying the myriad of pursuits available including golfing/ fishing, shooting, cycling, hill walking and even gliding. The Whisky Trail is easily followed from Deeside and Balmoral Castle is only one of many splendid historic buildings and castles to be visited in the Grampian Region.
