The Retreat Accommodation
Relax and enjoy the benefits of sleeping in a breathable, allergy-free house with organic hemp insulation, solid oak wooden floors throughout and under floor heating (from a natural, ground source heat pump), the paints are also carefully chosen non-odour and eco-friendly.
The interior of this special cottage is simple, fresh and contemporary.
There is a large, high-ceiling , open-plan kitchen/living area with a
stylish contemporary kitchen complete with Caithness stone worktops and
a dining table for 8.
In the living area, large comfortable leather sofas are perfect for stretching
out on in front of the open fire.
For your entertainment there is a 37” HD flat screen TV, DVD, IPOD docking station, CD/radio player and even a Karaoke machine! There is a good selection of games and an abundance of touring, walking and cycling maps as well as interesting bookings on Scottish wildlife, history and culture.
There are two spacious bedrooms:
The double has two windows with views west (perfect for evening sun) towards
woodlands and Ben Vorlich. All beds are extremely comfortable and made
up with crisp Egyptian cotton linen.
Both bedrooms have more than ample hanging and shelf space and come with
hairdryers.
The twin room is high-ceiling and extremely bright, 2 east and 1 south
window provide uninterrupted views across the valley.
The bathroom has a big double ended bath, separate walk in shower and
is stocked with organic shampoo, soap and body lotion.
Adjacent to the back door is a separate outhouse, which
is the perfect washing and drying room.
There is a large stainless steel sink, washing machine, plenty of cupboard
and hanging space, an overhead pulley and under floor heating.
Spacious, airy and warm, it is the ideal place for pets to sleep when
they are not in the large garden.
The cottage sits in a large enclosed beech hedged garden with a coppice of silver birch trees and a collection of huge sandstone boulders. Wonderful open stretches of flat lawn make the garden ideal for dogs and children’s play.
Enjoy al fresco dining on the sheltered sun terrace and partially covered decking area or relax on the sun loungers and soak in the stunning open views south over the Strathearn Valley.
The cottage has been lovingly restored and successfully marries the charm of a traditional stone house with the best progressive eco-build practices.

For those interested in Scottish culture and heritage, the Retreat is well positioned to visit Scone Palace, Stirling Castle, Glenturret Whisky Distillery, Drummond Castle Gardens, to name but a few.
A short 10 min drive will take you to Crieff and the Gateway to the Highlands
for a stunning tour up to the beautiful Scottish glens and lochs.
Edinburgh and Glasgow can both be reached within an hour.
This gorgeous holiday retreat is reached by private access and is surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Trinity Gask Estate.
For those interested in wildlife, there is an abundance
on the estate ranging from nesting ospreys, sea eagles and other birds
of prey; lapwings, oyster catchers, curlews and other waders are plentiful.
Watch magnificent skeins of geese flying overhead and large numbers of
swans meandering down the river.
Red squirrels and large numbers of game can also be seen on the estate
including pheasant, partridge, hare, roe and red deer.
There is access to a 3 mile private beat on the river Earn, hosting salmon,
sea trout, grayling and the odd otter!
Getting There by Car:
For those with SAT/NAV the postcode of The Retreat is PH3 1LG
From PERTH take the A9 SOUTH (Auchterarder/Stirling/ Glasgow) for approx
2 miles
Turn RIGHT (Kinkell Bridge) across dual carriageway. Continue on this
unclassified Kinkell Bridge Road for approx 6 miles, do not turn off this
road.
When you reach the sign for TRINITY GASK CHURCH/MADDERTY
Turn RIGHT.
Follow this road for ¼ mile, passing the church and manse on the
right.
Opposite on the left you will see Kirkton, a long stone house with a steading
and a tall brick chimney behind. Immediately after these buildings turn
LEFT (opposite a mirror on right) Continue round buildings, veering right,
away from Kirkton. Follow the track for approx ¼ mile. You are
now at the grounds of The Retreat.
Getting There by Railway:
The nearest train station is situated at Gleneagles, on the outskirts
of Auchterarder, 10 minutes from the Retreat. There is also a train station
in Perth, which is 15 minutes from the Retreat.
Getting there by Aeroplane:
The closest airport is in Dundee, 30 minutes from the Retreat. There are
also airports in Edinburgh and Glasgow, both an hour from the Retreat.
