Anne and Brian Angus are delighted to welcome you to The Blackford Hotel in the heart of Perthshire and very close to Auchterarder and the famous Scottish golf courses of Gleneagles, which is less than 10 minutes drive from The Blackford Hotel. The former 1830's Coaching Inn has been fully restored and returned back to the Blackford Hotel. Wood burning stoves in our hotel restaurant, bar and hotel dining room together with special homemade recipes will all help to generate that feeling of contentment, relaxation and escapism from the hustle and bustle of life outside.
We have 8 very comfortable ensuite bedrooms, individually designed to generate a feeling of restfulness and calm.

Also only 1 hour from Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Dundee. One minute off the A9. Food served all day. Families welcome.

We have a total of eight en-suite bedrooms, all individually refurbished, some with baths and some with showers. They are equipped with a direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, hair dryer and radio alarm clocks. Our phone system is fully compatible for internet access, in addition there is free WI FI access in most of the hotel
You can choose from our characteristic corner turret room , our cosy standard double, a twin pictured below right, single or family room, depending on your requirements.
So often "eating out" can be very uninteresting! The Blackford Hotel is an exception! We have, along with our New young Chef, Matthew Martin invested a great deal into our menus and confidently feel we can offer our guests' an interesting and varied choice of freshly prepared Scottish seasonal dishes.
Families are very welcome here and depending on children's ages, we can offer them their very own special "kids menu" which is available all day every day.
If you have a special request or diet then we would be delighted to be able to help - either phone ahead or let us know when you arrive. There are always interesting choices of vegetarian options on offer.

Here at The Blackford Hotel we thrive on being flexible and tailor-making special events for our guests. Our main function suite which is fully self contained with its own private bar and sprung dance floor is ideal for hosting birthdays, celebration meals, dances, weddings and special events. The hotel has plenty of natural daylight so is ideal for a meeting/conference or presentation and we offer the use of our presentation equipment within the cost of the hire of the room. This includes projector screen, flipchart, stationery and secretarial support. Our dining room (pictured below) can also be used for meetings of up to 16 people maximum.

Where We Are
The Blackford Hotel is set right in the heart of Perthshire in the picturesque village of Blackford and only three miles from the famous town of Auchterarder, the home of Gleneagles Hotel and golf courses. We are approximately sixteen miles from Perth and Stirling, within one hour of the city centres of Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and St. Andrews. The Trossachs lie ten miles to the north and the Ochil Hills a couple of miles to the south
By road:- Take the M9/A9 north from Glasgow. The Blackford Hotel is situated on the main quiet street of Blackford Village, 3 miles south of Auchterarder, just off the Main A9 between Stirling and Perth and within an hour of Edinburgh and Glasgow By Air - British Airways and EasyJet Regular flights to Edinburgh and Glasgow By Train -Virgin and Scotrail Gleneagles station is 2.5 miles away By Bus For all major bus routes, Citylink. Leisure Activities
Fishing The Blackford Hotel is the ideal location from where to experience some of the finest river and loch fishing in Scotland. Within a few miles we have The Trossachs where any number of lochs can be found to be abundant with pike, trout, wild brown trout and many more species. Loch Finglass, Loch Katrine, Loch Venacher and the famous Lake of Monteith are all very popular amongst the fishing paternity.Many lochs are equipped with their own boats, gillies and equipment to hire and there is always someone with some great local knowledge on where to find the ultimate catch.Cromlix Estate, approximately eight miles to our west offers some fantastic rainbow and brown trout fishing. Set in some spectacular scenery of this ancient family dwelling, Drummond Estates also offer fishing on Loch Earn and the River Earn. They have had a great year with some of the finest catches being up to 22lb 4oz for a rainbow trout. This is a very well equipped loch and anglers registered with SANA will get a 25% discount on boat hire.Have you ever fished the River Tay? We are officially registered to the Newtyle Beat which runs from the Dunkeld area South and East. All permits and equipment can be hired through the hotel and some of Scotland’s finest and most rewarding river fishing can be experienced.The Ochil Loch Trout Fishery (Frandy Fishery) also stocks a good number of rainbow trout and is a fly only loch. Many a local can be found escaping from life of an evening and enjoying the peace of the lochs.Kinkell loch (to the south) is tucked away in the Ochills and prides itself on its qualities and lack of commercialism, definitely a loch to experience!
CyclingThe Blackford Hotel is an ideal location from where to stop for a very comfortable nights rest. Whether you approach us from the south via Glendevon or the Ochil Hills or from the North via the Trossachs, Crieff and Auchterarder, we will ensure you of some great welcoming hospitality. We have a large secure garage, drying area and hose pipe if required at the end of the day.Only being an hour from Edinburgh or Glasgow, it could be the ideal stop at the end of a busy week before heading to the hills for some exhilarating weekend cycling.
