Mangenguey is a destination, a membership-only International Residential Community and Resort for those who want to experience Nature, the Arts, and the exchange of ideas for the pursuit of Social Change while enjoying the luxuries of a first class resort. The Society is founded on Creativity and the Spirit of Internationalism, for the preservation of Nature and The Human Spirit through the Arts and The Humanities. We welcome all types of Individuals and Corporations and do not discriminate based on class, ethnic origin, age, sexual orientation and religion.

The Resort

The Resort Our guest cottages will vary on size, price and style from native chic to simply lavish. The service will be of barefoot luxury. Friendly and attentive.
Public Facilities All members and guests will be able to indulge in the lavish and plush facilities that will be available in the Village and around the island.
Wining and Dining We will have several spots on the island to wine and dine. The Food will be simple but fresh and wonderfully exotic not forgetting the must haves: wonderful café in the morning, fine wines and champagnes, sparkling waters, divine desserts and more.
Arts and Entertainment Mangenguey will be a destination for people who want to experience nature, the arts, and the exchange of ideas. They will be able to participate in a continuous selection of events formal and informal happening through the year. Small events like music concerts, baroque, jazz; literary soirees; old and new movies shown in our salon. As well as big events like series of performances for dance, opera, and theater both classical and contemporary in our amphitheater.
Nature and Well Being The gardens are a semicircular large flat space back by the north and south peaks and border by an incredibly beautiful white sand beach were the turtles came to nest and the dugongs swim. It is the only part of the island that had already been touched by man.
Shopping Mangenguey will be totally self contained and will offer an array of shopping for luxury and essentials items. Many of our products will be designed by our Artists and produced by our Community.

The Salon

The Salon is a periodic gathering of people of social or intellectual distinction held under the roof of an inspiring hostess, to increase their knowledge through conversation. On Mangenguey we will gather artists, thinkers and leaders from all walks of society to exchange ideas and converse on art, science, design, philosophy, culture, and all important social and environmental issues affecting our world. We aim to nurture ideas that will foster leadership and bring about positive social change. Participate in Helena's virtual salon where she discusses issues and ideas close to her heart.

The Studio

In spite of today's reality where mass-produced items are threatening to make extinct traditional Arts and Crafts and the livelihood of the people that depend on them, we believe in the immense possibility of human "Creative Force" as a great source for producing wealth. Through the creation of our Studio we will harness artistic talent from various disciplines and challenge them to use their ability in producing a wide range of well designed, beautifully crafted, and quality goods applying the techniques of the traditional crafts. This way, we will provide livelihood not only for the artists but also for the craftsmen and their communities. We aim to ensure the preservation of their artistic heritage. All products of Mangenguey will be made of materials sourced in a responsible way and through ecologically sound means, observing ethical labor practices, and with respect for the local economies.

The Theater

Mangenguey will be a giant stage, a playground where adventurous souls will gather and create the unimaginable. The Theater of Mangenguey is a place for artists and the audiences to grow, change, and evolve.There will be all sorts of live performances: big and small, classic and contemporary, drama, music, opera, and dance. There will be films and documentaries, as well as other more unconventional genres.On Mangenguey, we believe that making Theater is an important and essential act to provoke, inspire, and excite.

Accommodation

Stay in the big house magnificent pink and bleu suites. Each has separate entrances, queen sized beds, luxurious bathrooms, hot and cold showers, A/C, ceiling fans, cable TV, DVD, and complimentary internet access. From the veranda, there are views of the ocean, beach, and gardens. Each suite is beautifully decorated with a unique mix of original design pieces, antiques, recycled objects, and some of Helena's personal mementos. Both suites share a beautiful central reading room. For the Suites, maximum occupancy is two persons.

Three native chic cottages lacquered in artistic colors are situated at the edge of the gardens, only a few steps from the spectacular white sand beach and ocean. Surrounded by trees and multicolored bougainvilleas, these cottages are all decorated with Helena's fashion touch.

The mimosa is a two bedroom charming cottage suite, with a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom. The shared bathroom has hot and cold shower, AC, ceiling fans and a spacious veranda. The Mimosa accommodates four persons and extra bed may be added (with surcharge).

The crimson and the azur are romantic cottages each have a single bedroom with two single beds that may be joined into a king size bed, AC, ceiling fan, a spacious veranda, and a bathroom with hot and cold shower. The Crimson and Azur each accommodate two persons and extra bed may be added (with surcharge).

ROSA I and II is just located seconds from the island's pristine blue seas, The cottage is a charming two bedroom suite with a queen sized bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the downstairs room. The cottage is brilliantly decorated with a unique mix of original design pieces, antiques, recycled objects, and Helena’s personal mementos. Maximum occupancy is four people and extra bed may be added (with surcharge)

The Island can be rented for small weddings, family reunions, or other special events.

Cuisine

The dining experience on Mangenguey is like no other: fresh sea air to stimulate the appetite, gorgeous views of the ocean, superb cuisine, warm and friendly service, and interesting conversation. Gathered around the gracious table for communal dining or "al fresco" in the garden, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, meals in Mangenguey reflect the distinctive character of Helena: her Spanish childhood, her years of travelling throughout different continents, combined with her knack of using of local ingredients. We can serve intimate romantic meals in the garden or in the beach with advance notice and an extra charge.

Directions to Mangenguey Island Resort

Mangenguey is an hour away from Manila, Philippines by plane. There are regular flights to Busuanga airport via Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific. From there, it's a 30-minute drive to Coron in an airconditioned airline van or private car (with additional charge). In Coron, guests board a native banka for a 1-1/2 hour journey by boat to the island. To provide ample time for the banka ride, we highly recommend booking AM flights into Busuanga and PM flights returning to Manila.
