Reviews of The Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao Philippines

We stayed here for one night and the first impressions were great. The restaurant on the ground floor serves delicious food and the wine was great too. The lights in our room were not flashing and there was no hot water. We complained and the hotel engineer came to sort the problem by taking out the bulbs which left us nearly in darkness. I went to the reception to speak to management, only to find that they all went home and the reception staff could not help. We got moved which took hours to sort out, so by the time we got sorted we had missed dinner and had to get room service at an extra cost. We were just glad that we stayed here for only one night.

This is a nice, clean hotel and when we were already in our room, we saw that there was a pigeon flying outside and went closer to the window to look at the scenery. The bed was comfortable and nice to take a rest after a long day. The food was good and the front desk officer always gets us confused with our breakfast, instead of us having buffet breakfast, they will say we having plated breakfast and it was quite annoying and it happened to us twice.

I stayed here for two nights and first impression was very good. All the staff was nice and the food in the restaurant was fantastic both for breakfast and dinner. I upgraded to a room which had a sea view, good bed, nice bathroom and good WiFi. But it also had a lot small bugs crawling in under the door as well as into the bathroom. The carpet on the floor looked dirty to me and there was noise from outside until midnight. This dragged down my impression of the hotel.

I stayed here during Christmas and had the best experience. The room was perfect offering a wonderful sleep quality. The breakfast was wonderful, great WiFi service, friendly people and I felt I was in great hands. The restaurant and bar was wonderful and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Best service, superb location, very clean and great sleep quality and everything was awesome!

The staff was very friendly and attentive and my room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. For me, one of the best things about this hotel is its location, there are so many places within walking distance. The food served at this hotel is amazing and People's Park is also close to the hotel and is a great place for a morning run. I finished every day with a massage at Thai Boran before walking back to the hotel to climb into bed. The hotel will assist with arrangements for travel and other excursions. If you're feeling more adventurous, like me, ask the staff how to ride the jeepneys as this is the best way to get around the city. I recommend this hotel to anyone and I will consider it when I return to Davao again.
