Welcome to Hobas Camp

The Hobas camp site is situated at the northern end of Namibia's Fish River Canyon, 10 kilometres from the canyon's main vantage point. The Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in the Southern Hemisphere and is one of the main tourist attractions in the south of the country.

 

Hobas Camp

Hobas Camp is the Campsite at the start of the Hiking Trail at the north end of the Fish River Canyon. The camping site at Hobas is one of the few in the area offering shady trees to camp amongst. The small store offers basic provisions as well as light snack food and cool drinks. Hobas is located close to the main view point and for the canyon Hiking this is the start of the famous four day Fish River Hiking trail.

The Hobas Camping Site has a kiosk with basic supplies and a swimming pool. There is no main electricity and the site is powered by a generator from 6am-midday and from 5pm - 10pm

There are 14 shady campsites all with braai areas, taps and lights. The ablution block has showers / baths, toilets and wash basins.

Ranked as one of the top hiking trails in Southern Africa, the Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail takes backpackers on a journey along its river course.

Hemmed in by sheer canyon walls, towering above the meandering river.

The trail stretches between the northern-most viewpoint overlooking the Fish River Canyon and the thermal hot springs of Ai- Ais.

Bird-life includes pelicans, black eagles, fish eagles, kingfishers, lovebirds, wild ostrich and various species of waterfowl and wading birds.
