THE LODGE
Sun Karros Daan Viljoen was built with an explorer's passion for the great outdoors and a jet-setter's love for peace and tranquility, lazy days whilst having all the creature comforts at their disposal. Daan Viljoen is a place that nature and wildlife lovers can explore safely on short game drives, walks and hikes.
The 6.5 km game route requires a 4 x 4 vehicle. The 3 km Wag ‘n Bietjie Trail leading down to The Stengel Dam is an easy walk for adults. The more challenging Rooibos Trail takes hikers along The Augeigas Dam to the eastern highlands.
The Park has no large predators, but is home to baboons, blue wildebeest, springbok, kudu, oryx, Hartmann mountain zebra, giraffe, eland and black-backed jackal. Smaller species include dassies, porcupines and yellow mongooses.
The Augeigas Dam as well as the pools around the Park are bird magnets, making Sun Karros Daan Viljoen highly appealing to birdwatchers. Over 200? 300? Sighted species have been recorded. Endemic species include Ruppell’s parrot, White-tailed shrike, Monteiro’s Hornbill, and sometimes also the Damara Hornbill.

POOL AREA
A crisp blue swimming pool stretches before the Boma Restaurant, which remains a favourite with both guests and day visitors. Surrounded by the haunting beauty of the Game Park, this serene oasis was designed for both fun and relaxation. A refreshing dip in the sparkling 20 metre swimming pool is perfect after a long sun-filled day. Relax under sun umbrellas and order drinks and snack platters right from your sunbed and just in case you forgot to pack yours, swimming pool towels can be made available at Reception.
