Xai Xai Beach
Mozambique

The Xai Xai area is a great place for fishing, fishing charters are provided at Zongoene Lodge (situated on the Limpopo river mouth just south of Xai-Xai) but other than this you would be best to take along all your own equipement and boats although NKwanzi and Nhambavale Lodge in the Chidenguele area may also be able to assist at certain times of year.

The beaches in this area are stunning and the are will appeal to all nature lovers. The Xai Xai area is a great place for fishing.

Conveniently located only 8 hours drive from Johannesburg (750 km) and Durban or 250km north of Maputo (no 4x4 necessary). The unpopulated paradise of Praia do Xai Xai awaits your discovery.

These perfectly located, privately owned self catering Villa's are on the first dune, all with 180 degree views of the warm Indian Ocean and only a stones throw from the beach.

With summer temperature ranging between 30-40 degrees and winter 20-30 degrees this is a year round destination. (Summer water temp is around 29 degrees and winter 22 degrees).

By prior arrangement, the Xai Xai Eco Estate offers Deep sea fishing (A must as the fishing is unbelievable all year round).
Rock and Surf fishing is extremely popular due to the large extended reef along the beach. Xai Xai was featured in 4 episodes last year of the popular ESA (Extreme sports angling) fishing program on DSTV.

Xai Xai Price Guide 2010:

Budget 10 sleeper: from R1160 per casa
Standard 8 sleeper: from R1290 per casa
Luxury 10 sleeper with pool: R1485 per casa
Luxury 8 sleeper with pool: R1790 per casa

The venue also boasts awesome snorkeling.

The Xai Xai Eco Estate is a 35 unit complex with communal pool. The complex is in close proximity to swimming beaches and a 50m walk to the main beach.

Barrier lakes edge much of this section of the coast providing for bathing, swimming and watersports in a safer environment than that or the open sea, although the ocean beaches are close by for those who prefer the sound of the breaking waves.

Some of these lakes are salt water estuaries which may be cut off from the ocean by sandbars, these lagoons usually have beautiful white sandy beaches ideal for sunbathing. Some of the lakes such as many of those at Chidenguele near Xai-Xai are fresh water. The lagoons lining the EN1 road through Quissico make for a particularly picturesque journey.

Between the Limpopo River and Inharrime the coastline of Mozambique is littered with freshwater and salt water lakes. Many of the lodges in this area are still fairly remote and require a 4x4 to access, but there are a few lodges at Chidenguele which can easily be reached from the main EN-1 in normal vehicles and which can offer a great overnight stop or place to relax for a couple of days.

The beaches in this area are stunning and the are will appeal to all nature lovers. The lakes, particularly Nhambavale lake at Ciidenguele is ideally suited to water sports although at the present time you will need to take all your ownequipment with you as there are few organised activities in the area.
