Welcome to Chongoene Holiday Resort

We are in Xai Xai, Mozambique. The Resort is close to the beach with clean sand along warm tropical crystal clear waters and hot weather all year round.

The massive reef running parallel to the beach provides natural protection against the strong waves at high tide and forms several small pools at lowtide, perfect for snorkelling and diving. Deep-sea fishing is excellent at Xai Xai and shore fishing is good at certain times of the year, especially from May to July, which is Kingfish time.

Affordable meals can be enjoyed at the Restaurant, which also has a TV with DSTV. The Restaurant has a full bar and also delivers take-aways to the houses.

Our camping area are located behind a row of bushes 30m from the beach!

There are 10 self-catering houses in the resort. All with awesome sea views. The houses are fully equipped and have electricity. Units are fully serviced and the house assistants can clean your fish, crayfish and prawns as well. Beds per unit range from two bedroom to 5 bedrooms per house.

Camping
The camping area at the resort is situated behind a row of bushes a mere 30m from the beach. Camping sites have electricity and Casitas - which is normally used as a kitchen by campers. The camp sites has ample trees which ensures a lot of shade.

Kick up your feet on sandy shores with a self-catering stay in this enchanting house which overlooks the beach and has breathtaking 180 degree sea/breaker views. Situated a mere 70m from the beach the rumbling of the waves ensures for a relaxing atmosphere. Many a perfect night can be enjoyed with sundowners on the spacious deck, a fire in the boma and a barbeque to top it off.

Perfect for balmy summer nights! Children will love the huge sandpit by the barbeque area. Casa Ericka is 3 to 5 bedroom fully equipped chalet with 2 bathrooms. It has all basic cookware, microwave, tumble drier, toaster as well as bedding. Mosquito nets are provided and a house assistant cleans the chalet daily. Please bring your own towels.

Casa Cinco
Enjoy the rumbling of the waves. The house is a short walk to the beach. It is fully equipped with a braai area where you can relax.

It has a beautiful view of the beach and is situated a short walk from the Chongoene beachfront in the warm Indian Ocean. It is located in a quiet and peaceful secured area.

Accommodation consist of 3 bedrooms for 6 guests with 2 double and 2 single beds. Enjoy cooking in this fully equipped kitchen with fridge and freezer, gas stove and microwave. Weber braai. There are 3 x Airconditioners and mosquito nets.

Decorated in pastel yellows, this charming chalet creates a soothing ambience that is perfect for some R&R. Casa Ria has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and living area consisting of a lounge and dining room. It is fully equipped and the view from the deck is amazing. Ample parking space.

This cosy self catering house has a beautiful view of the beach, is fully equipped and have a braai area. Sleeping 8 it is ideal for the bigger family.

Affordable meals can be enjoyed at the Restaurant which is 30m from the beach! The restaurant is open 7 days of the week. Menus are based on seasonal availability and includes delicious fish dishes and seafood. We have a full bar and can serve cocktails on the beach as a sundowner.

The atmosphere is relaxed, with the emphasis on good food and conversation.

We also serve meals on the beach!

Payment information

A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation with balance payable 10 weeks before your travel date. Bank transfer, credit and debit cards accepted for pre-bookings. Paypal available on request.

Directions to Chongoene Holiday Resort

From the border at the Lebombo/Ressina Garcia Border Post by Komatipoort there is a good tar road all the way to Maputo and up to Xai Xai

Once through the Komatipoort border post, follow the EN4 road until you arrive on the outskirts of Maputo where there EN4 takes one left turn. In the Matola area, turn left at the intersection with the Shoprite Centre on the left. Follow this road until you see the EN1 (N1) North Xai Xai off ramp and turn left. This is the main road north and you will drive through numerous little villages and towns on this road.

Travel north on the EN1 for 224km until you reach the town of Xai Xai, then travel almost through the town until the BP garage on the left, 300m after the garage take a right turn to the Praia de Xai Xai (beach), travel for 10km until you reach a circle, keep left and follow the tar road to the beach front. At the beach front turn left into the dirt road and travel north along the sea shore (past the caravan park on your left hand side) on a sand road for 3km. Chongoene Holiday Resort is the last resort and is clearly marked
