Reviews of Sena Hotel in Beira Mozambique

An African standards ,very good and expensive hotel. The Staff are friendly, but that was it. To replace a light bulb three days were needed. A map or a copy of it, you could not muster within three days.
The rooms with shower toilets are clean cut and generous. Standard rooms are a bit cheaper, but all face the courtyard. There are air-conditioning units, the volume and exhaust are not pleasant. So if you like having an open window, should avoid the standard rooms or prior to booking only view.
Through the air conditioning throughout the hotel is very noisy. Who is sensitive to noise at night will have its trouble sleeping.
In the room there is a small fridge, a safe and a water boiler and sometimes a tea bag.
Towels, soap and shower gels are three different ready.

Upon arrival at the Sena Hotel I was instantly impressed the receptionist was very polite and efficient and so were the the porters and the rest of the staff.
After a very swift check in I was shown to my room which by modern day standards was massive and this is a new hotel.
Large and airy with a split level aircon unit which was reliable and quite plus a large flat screen television with a good number of English language channels thanks to DSTV from South Africa,
I later met up with some other colleagues in the lobby bar where we had some excellent local draft beer and a very adequate club sandwich for supper.
Upon retirering for the night I found the bathroom or should I say shower room more than adequate plenty of hot water and very clean with fluffy white towels, plus free bath room toiletries normally found in more up market surroundings.

The night spent at Sena Hotel in Beira, was a dreadful experience. The hotel is situated on a busy road with strange characters lurking about Doors slamming at 02:00am and until 04:00am. Rude reception who were also unaware of our expected arrival and bullied us into payment. Even going as far as locking one of us into the reception area and threatening to call the police for restaurant bills of 3 days prior that had been unpaid by previous guests of the hotel. It was an experience I would not want to repeat or have any other experience. Truly awful, avoid it if you have the choice.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Sena in Beira. The hotel is clean and attractive and has a helpful staff. The breakfast is nothing complicated but is adequate. There is a small and basic but decent fitness room. The only downsides were:
1) the very poor Internet access during this visit which was not the case when I stayed there before
2) lack of a safe in the rooms
3) a substantial surcharge for using international credit cards.
I would definitely stay here again.
