Cap Sainte Marie Madagascar

Cap Sainte Marie
(To the south tip of Madagascar between Tuléar and Fort Dauphin)

Beautiful beaches, high sandstone cliffs and caves offer a dream landscape at the south tip of Madagascar. Situated between the waters of the Mozambique Channel and those of the Indian Ocean, it is not surprising that this harsh place is beaten by the winds and conveys an impression of “ end of the world”.
From July to November, it is possible to watch the migration of humpback whales and their whale calves from a short distance, at sea. The history of evolution has also left marks in this place with the broken eggs of Æpyornis, this legendary bird ,now extinct, of Sinbad the sailor. Collecting them is prohibited so as to preserve valuable remains of the past. Weird plants and creatures evolve in this environment, like the population of radiated tortoises , an endangered species which has found refuge there, and dwarf plants specific to the region.
Accessible all the year round, to be preferably visited during the coolest months of the year.
